New O-Line Coach Already Familiar With Ralphie
BOULDER ? University of ColoradoGÇÖs newest member of the coaching staff, Denver Johnson, is already plenty familiar with CUGÇÖs pre-game and halftime ritual of running Ralphie around the field.
GÇ£Well the first time I came here, I almost got run over by Ralphie,GÇ¥ Johnson said.
Johnson was a member of the Oklahoma State coaching staff in 1985 as a graduate assistant and then again as the offensive line coach from 1989-93.
GÇ£I wandered out on the field as you often do before the games and was out maybe where I shouldnGÇÖt be,GÇ¥ Johnson explained. GÇ£I look around and here came a rather large buffalo running toward me with some young people dangling at the end of ropes.GÇ¥
Despite his close encounter, Johnson is happy to be back in Boulder, this time on the good guyGÇÖs side of the field.
GÇ£Other than (almost getting run over by Ralphie), IGÇÖve always enjoyed the atmosphere in Boulder,GÇ¥ Johnson said. GÇ£IGÇÖm certainly looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere here for the home team.GÇ¥
