Buff Volleys With Coach Kenneally

Nicole Kenneally
Colorado Tennis head coach Nicole Kenneally will share her thoughts with Buffs fans on her team's progress throughout the 2009 spring season. This week she writes about CU's home match against region rival Boise State.
Dear Buff Fans,
This past weekend we had our match at home vs. Boise State University. We had a crowd which exceeded 120 and was more than double our last match, so thank you to everyone who came on out!
Boise State is one of our regional opponents and they have had very good teams over the last several years. The match started out with some hard fought doubles. BSU got the best of us at #2 however and at #1 and #3 we really put in a good fight. In singles action we lined up and started out in some really tight first sets. At #2 singles they came out on fire and took it to us early, however at #1 and #3 singles we really were in there with sets points in Cami Belassi's first set and Abbie Probert lost a close one 6-4. We did not win the right points that day and fell in straight sets in all our top three positions. We proceeded to put on our #4-6 singles and we were definitely out there with the intention of getting all three. Michala Hedelund-Jensen did a great job of staying with her opponent and winning in a super tiebreak and Franziska Jendrian also closed out a solid match at #4.
Overall, the players did a great job of concentrating on their courts and continuing to give it their all. In this match, however Boise State did a great job of winning the big points and that made the difference. We are now on a couple of weeks break and head back to the practice courts. Our next match is against Denver University. This match will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28 with a start time of 2:45pm. The match will be played at Pinehurst Country Club.

We hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
GO BUFFS!
