Colorado Tennis head coach Nicole Kenneally will share her thoughts with Buffs fans on her team's progress throughout the 2009 spring season. This week she writes about CU's sweep of the Kansas school's this last weekend which moved the Buffaloes to 4-0 in Big 12 play.

 

Dear All,

 

We are presently on our spring break and enjoying the Boulder area!

 

We returned from our Kansas swing on Monday night.

 

On Friday we played the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence. We played a solid doubles point and #2 dubs did a great job of keeping their composure after being down 6-1! Franziska Jendrian and Ania Anuszkiewicz brought it back and won in a tiebreak.  In singles play the ladies came out ready to play and so did Kansas however we were there for the long haul and took home four of the six singles matches. Everyone did a great job and competed hard.  We beat KU 5-2.

On Sunday we played KSU and due to forecast gale force winds the match was moved inside. In doubles we knew they had the ability to play but never really let them get into it and secured the point quickly. In singles play it was a solid two hours of tennis before we established ourselves. Our #1-3 singles all went the distance with three set matches and we closed out each of them. I think this match was one of the strongest KSU has played. Number 4 singles also went to a third set and Franzi won that in a Super tiebreak as the match had already been decided. We also finished up with strong victories at #5 and #6. We defeated KSU 7-0 and our ladies realized this was not your typical 7-0 match. 

 

We had a solid trip to Kansas picking up both victories and moving to 4-0 in the Big 12 Conference. We enjoyed a day off in the Plaza area of Kansas City on Monday and now it is back to work and preparing for this weekend.

 

On Saturday we have #4 ranked Baylor at 11 a.m. and that will be followed on Sunday with Texas Tech also at 11 a.m. Please check back at http://www.cubuffs.com/ for information about where the match will be played.
