Von Hagen In Ninth After Day 1
AZUSA, Calif. ? University of Colorado freshman Alex Von Hagen recorded three personal records as he led the Buffs in the combined events portion of the Mt. Sac Invitational on Wednesday.
Von Hagen is currently in ninth place after the first five events; recording 3,453 points. He took top honors in the long jump after recording a mark of 21 feet, 6 ? inches, a personal best. Von Hagen was also second in the high jump with another PR of 6-6 ?, which was 2 ? better than his previous best.
Teammate Eddie Taylor is in 22nd with 2,959 points. Taylor’s best finish of the day was fourth place in the 100-meter dash. He raced to a time of 11.42, a personal record.
Both Von Hagen and Taylor recorded PR’s in the shot put and both placed in the top-10. Von Hagen was third overall with a throw of 36 ? and Taylor was eighth (17-2 ?).
On the women’s side, Alyssa Frank is 20th after the first four events in the heptathlon with 2,528 points. Katie Dreher is 26th with 2,338 points.
Frank recorded personal records in her first three events of the day. She clocked a time of 15.80 in the 100 hurdles, jumped 5-3 ? in the high jump and recorded a throw of 29-1 in the shot put. Dreher tied her PR in the high jump at 5-1.
The meet will conclude on Thursday.
