Buff Earns Spot In CU Record Book at Texas Relays
AUSTIN, Texas ? The University of Colorado track and field record book got two new additions on Friday morning at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
CU sophomore Cassie Hirschfeld became the seventh fastest female in CU history in the 100-meter dash as she finished the race in 11.96 seconds. Hirschfeld placed 37th overall and was sixth in her heat, which also had the fastest mark of the day at 11.21 by LSU’s Samantha Henry. Krista Kiper was 81st after clocking a time of 12.76.
The men’s 4x400-meter relay, made up of Quinton Dodson, Matthew McCathran, Adrian Gomez and A.J. Whitaker finished 21st overall with a time of 3:17.80.
Whitaker and Dodson placed 34th and 35th, respectively, in the 100-meter run. Whitaker clocked a time of 10.88 while Dodson raced to a mark of 10.89.
Toi Windham was 59th in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing the finish in 16.37. She teamed up with Veronica Maul, Joi Windham and Dyamond Seay in the women’s 4x400-meter relay, which finished 26th overall with a time of 3:47.31. The women’s 4x100-meter relay (Hirschfeld, Kiper, Maul and Seay) was disqualified.
The next action for the Buffs is the Tom Benich Invite in Greeley, Colo. on Saturday.
