Veal Leaving CU Basketball Team

BOULDER ? University of Colorado head basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik announced Friday that sophomore forward Toby Veal will be leaving the Buffalo program.
Veal, who checks in at 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds, was a true freshman on the team last year after signing with CU out of Johnson High School in Savannah, Ga. He saw action in 18 games (no starts), averaging 1.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. He was third on the team in blocked shots with seven. His best game was against Texas A & M, when he came off the bench to score 10 points, along with collecting three rebounds and three assists.
“After signing Toby Veal in November 2007, he revealed to me that he had fathered a daughter,” Bzdelik said. “Throughout the past school year, Toby struggled with being too far from his newborn. Consequently, he has decided to return closer to home so he can be with her on a regular basis.
“He’s a good young man and we wish him well.”
CU will grant him a release so he is free to sign with another school.
