HIGH SCHOOL-She earned six letters four Mountain Vista high school, four in soccer and two in track & field.  She was named the league's offensive most valuable player two times and was three times an All-League selection.  She led the Colorado Youth Soccer Association to a state championship in 2006 and also won a state championship with REAL Colorado Soccer club that same year.  REAL Colorado was also state finalists during the 2009-10 season.  As a member of the ODP team for the state of Colorado since 2008, she has seen action at the regional camp level.  In track & field, she earned All-State honors as a freshman and sophomore and holds three school records in the 400-meter relay (49.33 seconds), the 800-meter relay (1:41.53) and the 800 medley (1:49.25).  She qualified for the United States Track & Field Association Junior Olympics in 2007 despite jumping off what she later learned was a broken leg.

ACADEMICS-She is planning to major in business finance at Colorado, but is also interested in engineering and architecture.
PERSONAL-Her full name is Hayley Lyn Hughes.  She was born July 30, 1992 to David and Julie Hughes.  She has one sister, Jessamyn, 22.  She has volunteered with Assist the Unified sports programs for soccer and basketball.  She earned the nickname "Sparky" after her soccer coach said she lit a spark on the field.  Her hobbies include skiing and playing the guitar.
