10th 2009-10 Winning Attitude Recipient Announced

Penmai showed her Winning Attitude by helping raise her team’s spirits after they were being dominated by a physically imposing volleyball team. During the match, her squad was playing well, but every time they tried to send the ball over the net it was blocked by the tall opponents. With her team dejected and wanting to give up, Penmai told her team that they had come too far and practiced too hard to just give up. She told her team that even though the other squad was taller it didn’t mean that they had to dominate because they didn’t have the same team spirit as Penmai’s team. The team’s attitude changed, and they started to hit the ball over the net past the block. This changed the course of the match, and although Penmai’s team didn’t come out on top, they still showed resilience and winning attitudes while facing a daunting opponent.

This is the fourth year Qwest, FSN and CU have come together to honor middle school students around Colorado for the differences they can make in their communities by providing outstanding efforts in sportsmanship, community involvement and teamwork.
