BOULDER - University of Colorado freshman guard Alec Burks was named one of 20 players selected to the 2010 CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-America Team, announced Monday. The CollegeInsider.com voting is comprised of Division I coaches and NBA scouts.

Rather than assembling first, second, third and fourth team squads, the collegeinsider.com Freshmen All-America team is one team consisting of 20 players. Burks was one of three Big 12 Conference players selected to the team.

The Grandview, Mo. native shined in his initial season in Boulder finishing second on the team in scoring (17.1 ppg.) and first in rebounding (5.0 rpg.). On the national stage, Burks is currently third in field goal percentage (53.8) and fourth in points per game among all freshmen.

In the final Big 12 Conference statistics (all games played), Burks led the conference in field goal percentage.

Burks became the first Colorado athlete to be named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in a vote of the conference coaches. The guard was the top-scoring freshman in the league, ranking seventh overall. He also set the CU freshman record for most points scored in a season (512), also earned all-Rookie team conference honors, and was an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection.
