Registration
Questions
Can I register for camp another way besides
on-line? No. Our NCAA compliance office and business
office have mandated that all camp registration go through
Active.com, our online camper management system. This online
registration system cuts out the paper chase, satisfies the
auditors, and ensures that we are in compliance with all NCAA
rules.
What happens after I
register? After registering online you will receive
immediate confirmation of enrollment via email. You will also
receive additional information and a reminder about check in
procedures in the weeks leading up to the camp your child is
enrolled in.
When should I register?
We typically open our registration on January 1st of the camp year.
Our camps have sold out the past few years and are filling up
faster and faster each year. Registrations are processed on a first
come, first serve basis.
Do you keep a waitlist once the camps
are full? Yes, we do keep a waitlist. Waitlists are
kept in case of cancellations.
Skill Instruction & Camp Specific
Questions
What is the ratio of staff to campers?
1:10
During camps, how are teams
organized? Groups during camps are formed based on
the skill level of each athlete as well as their age. Each group of
12-15 players is assembled after doing a short evaluation at the
beginning of each camp.
Can parents observe the training
sessions? Yes! Parents are welcome to come watch any
training session. Parents are especially invited to come watch the
last camp session and closing ceremonies. Please check with your
daughter or sonGÇÖs group coach to see what facility she will be
in.
Will the camper have access to ice/water
at camp? Gatorade and water stations will be located
in all gyms and a full service training room is available in our
main site, Coors Events Center. Every camper should bring their own
water bottle and it should be labeled with their name and contact
phone number.
What type of clothing do campers need to
bring to camp? Appropriate volleyball/workout
clothes, i.e. t-shirts, shorts, kneepads, socks, gym shoes.
On-Campus Housing & Dining
Questions
What should I plan to bring as an overnight
camper?
Overnight Campers must bring your own linens, pillows, and
sheets. Also, plan on bringing a fan, as some dorms are not
air-conditioned and campers find it more comfortable having a fan
in their room. Each room will also include a refrigerator and
microwave. Campers also sometimes bring appropriate games, cards,
mp3 players, snacks and drinks to make their stay more comfortable.
Your camper should also bring an alarm clock. Please remember that
the CU Volleyball Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen
items.
Can parents come visit their camper in
the dorms? Yes, but with some restrictions. Parents
are allowed to come visit their child in the lobby of the dorm
during the breaks between sessions. Parents are not
allowed on the dorm floors, in camper's rooms, or in the cafeteria.
Check-In and Check-Out are the only times that the parents will be
allowed to go into the rooms. We have found that
parents coming to visit their child at the dorm during camp is one
of the leading causes of homesickness. Camp is a time for your
child to experience independence and have a great camp experience.
We want your daughter to have a positive camp experience and our
staff will be there to help if they need to.
What kind of supervision do the campers
receive at the dorm? There will be 24 HOUR
SUPERVISION by trained and professional camp staff members. Staff
members and coaches will be staying in the dorm in the case that
any camper would need assistance. A camp administrator and
qualified medical staff member will also be available at all times
should a camper need emergency assistance. All staff members have
completed a thorough background check and rigorous training in
order to be included in the Colorado Volleyball camp staff.
Can my camper request a
roommate? Yes! In the registration process, you will
have the option to enter a roommate request. We will make every
effort to honor all roommate requests, but we cannot guarantee that
all will be met. In the instance that a camper has requested more
than one roommate or multiple campers all request the same
roommate, we will make the selection. Requests for blocks of rooms
near each other can be requested. Again, we cannot guarantee
requests for blocks but will do our best to honor each request.
Will laundry facilities be available
during camp? No, please make sure to pack
accordingly for the entire camp.
Will the rooms have
phones? No, the rooms will not have phones and
campers are not allowed to plug phones into the Dorm rooms. Campers
are allowed to bring cell phones; however, they are only permitted
to be used in the camper's rooms and during down time in the camp
schedule. Cell phone use is restricted to emergency use only while
in the gym, during camp sessions, while the walk to/from the dorms
and the gym.
Will my child be supervised at the
dorm? Yes! Every camper is assigned to a dorm
counselor. CU Volleyball Camp Staff (camp directors, coaches,
counselors, and dorm moms) are housed in the premier dormitories on
campus (dorms are assigned prior to camp and campers receive
notification the week before camp starts) Campers are required to
be in their room by 10:30pm. Our dorm staff will do bed checks
every night at 10:15pm. We are very serious about the safety of
your child. CU Housing Services and Public Safety also provide
additional security staff that monitors the premises 24
hours/day.
What if I lose my Housing/Dining
card? Each camper is given a swipe card that serves
as their room key and meal card registration. There is a $25 fee
for a lost card. If a camper loses either of these items, please
notify the camp director or a dorm mom immediately. The fee to
replace a lost key or meal band can be paid to the camp director or
a dorm mom. If the camper does not have the money to pay the fee,
it will be billed to the parents.
What if we fly in or arrive a day early
and need transportation or lodging? Airport
shuttle: For campers flying in/out of Denver, we will provide
transportation to and from The University of Colorado or a fee of
$25 one-way and $50 round-trip. Please get in touch with us by
phone or email to set this up.
Additional lodging: We also offer an additional night stay
of $45 per night for campers attending multiple, consecutive
sessions. Please get in touch with us by phone or email to set this
up.
Additional Medical
Questions
Where do I provide medical information for my
daughter/son? Medical information is a required part
of online registration. Please make sure you complete this section
of the registration process in its entirety. All campers must have
completed medical information on file in order to participate in
any camp activities.
What happens if my daughter does not
have her medical forms turned in? The CU Volleyball
Camp must have all medical forms on file before your daughter or
son can participate in camp, no exceptions. This is a University of
Colorado mandate, not just a camp policy, and your cooperation is
appreciated.
What if my child has a medical condition
that he/she needs attention for? All medical
conditions need to be reported in detail to the certified trainer
upon check-in. All prescription medications will need to be checked
in upon arrival to camp (please make sure your camper's name is
clearly visible on the packaging/bottle). All necessary medication
will be distributed by the athletic training staff per the
prescribed dosage instructions provided. Campers are not to have
medication in their possession at any time during camp and will be
secured and managed by the camp medical staff.
Beyond the initial medical questions
during registration, is there any other medical paperwork due prior
to camp? No. As long as you have filled out the
medical/insurance form during registration in itsGÇÖ entirety, then
you will have no further paperwork during camp. If the camper is
going to need specific attention from our medical staff during
camps however, please be prepared to meet with our team during
check in to advise them of the campers needs, and give them any
guidelines.
What type of medical care will be
available at camp? CU athletic trainers will be
present throughout the duration of every camp. To ensure the safety
of our campers, please accurately state any and all ailments and/or
conditions when completing the online registration.
Are the meals accommodating to campers
that may have food allergies, vegetarians, etc...?
Yes, our catering and dining facilities serve a variety of foods to
satisfy and accommodate all our campers' needs and can be notified
to work with campers with food allergies. Special dietary requests
must be made in advance and noted in the medical portion of the
registration process. ?
