TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Colorado sophomore Brianne Beemer raced her way to the top of the CU combined events record book, posting a school record in the 800-meter run of the heptathlon on Friday afternoon at the Jim Click Shootout.

Beemer recorded a time of 2 minutes, 13.20 seconds to beat the runner-up, Arizona State's Keia Pinnick, by 3.81 seconds. She now holds four of the seven highest times posted by a CU female in the combined events 800. The previous record was held by Heather Sterlin who ran 2:14.80 on June 4, 1997.

Beemer scored 4,669 points to finish seventh overall in the heptathlon. In addition to her first-place finish in the 800, she tied for sixth in the high jump (5-01.75) and was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (15.63).

Beemer was not the only Buff to excel in the 800-meters as fellow sophomore Katie Dreher notched a personal record of 2:20.14. Dreher's time is the 12th best in CU history for the combined 800. Dreher finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.94), sixth in the long jump (17-01.50), and seventh in the javelin (104-02), all personal records. Dreher finished with 4,515 points, placing her ninth.

Sophomore Alyssa Frank finished 11th overall with 3,558 points. Frank had a personal best in the shot put on Thursday with a throw of 33-7.50, good for sixth place. She also PR'd in the javelin (102-05) and took eighth.

Volunteer assistant coach Emily Pearson took second in the heptathlon with 5,322 points. She won the javelin with a throw of 138-10. Pearson was second in the 200 (25.34) and took third in the 100 hurdles (14.26), high jump (5-05.25) and shot put (39-04).

Adam Salzmann scored 6,739 points in the men's decathlon to lead the Buffalo men. Highlighting his performance was a second-place finish in the 1500. Salzmann's time of 4:25.92 is a personal record and marks the third best combined events 1500 time recorded at CU. Salzmann also set PRs in the pole vault (14-09) and javelin (154-10) where he finished fourth and eighth, respectively. Salzmann's mark in the pole vault tied for the third best by a CU combined events athlete.

Eddie Taylor (6,168 points) and Alex Von Hagen (5,919) also competed in the decathlon and placed tenth and 13th, respectively. Taylor was 13th in the long jump (20-03.00), ninth in the shot put (38-00.75), eighth in the high jump (5-11.25), tenth in the discus (110-08), and third in the 1500 (4:35.39), recording personal records in each event. Taylor's shot put distance is the 11th best in combined events history at CU, and his time in the 1500 is the tenth fastest.

Von Hagen notched personal records in the discus (118-10) and shot put (37-02.25), placing seventh and tenth, respectively. Von Hagen also finished third in the high jump by clearing 6-04, which tied for eighth highest in CU combined events. 

Other members of the CU track and field team will compete at the Tom Benich Invitational on Saturday in Greeley, Colo.
