Gouin Suspended Indefinitely
BOULDER GÇö University of Colorado junior linebacker Brandon Gouin has been suspended indefinitely from the football program due to his alleged involvement in an off-campus incident last week, athletic director Mike Bohn announced Monday.
Gouin was ticketed on suspicion of providing alcohol to an underage person, a class 1 misdemeanor offense, punishable by up to 18 months in jail and a $5,000 fine.
Head coach Dan Hawkins issued the following statement Monday afternoon:

We vigorously educate our student athletes on a regular basis regarding the high standards we expect from our team members. Brandon will be disciplined accordingly. We established our philosophy of excellence on and off the field since arriving here and will continue to sustain our efforts. We will not tolerate any behavior that deviates from this philosophy.GÇ¥
In addition to team sanctions from the head coach and the athletic department, Gouin also faces a referral to the Office of Judicial Affairs, as well as whatever criminal penalties under the law. Each is considered separately and one is not dependent upon the other.
Gouin, 21, graduated from Boulder High School in 2007 and was admitted into the United States Air Force Academy. He transferred to CU after one semester and became a walk-on member of the football team. The 6-1, 220-pound inside linebacker saw action on special teams for the last six games of the 2009 season, where he assisted on one tackle and had two knockdown blocks.
