Brown Added to 2010-11 MBB Roster

BOULDER - University of Colorado men's basketball head coach Tad Boyle announced Thursday that Carlon Brown, a 6'5", 200-pound guard has transferred from the University of Utah and will join the Buffaloes for the next two years.
Per NCAA transfer rules, Brown will sit out the 2010-11 season and will have one more year of eligibility remaining.
"Carlon is an explosive athlete," Boyle said. "He has the ability to get to the rim and finish in traffic. He was an integral part in the building process at Utah helping them to a 24-win season and a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008-09."
A native of Riverside, Calif., Brown was three-year contributor with the Utes basketball team. As a junior, he led Utah in scoring at 12.6 points per game and tied for a team-best 4.1 rebounds per game. He scored 391 points during the 2009-10 season moving him into 36th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 854 career points.
During his sophomore and junior seasons, Brown was an All-Mountain West Conference honorable mention.
In three years, Brown recorded 43 double-digit scoring games, netted 20 or more points three times, with a pair of double-doubles. He led the team in scoring and rebounding 14 times each, including a career-best 31 points at Wyoming (Jan. 27, 2010).
Brown averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 98 games played (75 starts).
Prior to his junior season, Brown was named to a number of preseason lists including a second-team All-MWC nominee and named the league's "Most Entertaining" by Lindy's College Basketball. He was also selected as the best athlete in the Mountain West Conference by The Sporting News and an USA Today second-team preseason All-MWC selection.
Brown is the second student-athlete addition to the Colorado basketball team this week. CU signed Andre Roberson (6'7", 190) from San Antonio, Texas to a National Letter of Intent on Monday.
