BOULDER- Jessica Pixler, a graduate student and member of the University of Colorado track and field team, was named one of eight recipients of the NCAA Today's Top VIII Award. She will receive her award at the NCAA convention next week in San Antonio.

Pixler graduated from Seattle Pacific University in June. While competing for the Falcons she won 12 NCAA titles, including three straight on the cross country course, six in indoor track (four straight in the mile) and three in outdoor track. She excelled in the classroom as well, recording a GPA of 3.93 while majoring in English. Pixler was even named SPU's overall Athlete of the Year in each of her four years there.

The Sammamish, Wash. native has one outdoor season remaining. She missed the 2008 campaign because of a stress fracture in her back.

The Top VIII winners are selected by the NCAA Honors Committee, which is composed of athletics administrators at member schools and nationally distinguished citizens who are former student-athletes.
