BOULDER GÇö Sophomore offensive tackle David Bakhtiari was named second team All-Pac-12, announced Monday by the league office after tabulating votes from each of the 12 member head coaches.

Bakhtiari, a native of Burlingham, Calif., is the sole CU player on the first- or second-team, but five players earned honorable mention status including offensive guard Ethan Adkins, defensive end/jack linebacker Josh Hartigan, cornerback Greg Henderson, defensive lineman Will Pericak and linebacker Douglas Rippy.

StanfordGÇÖs Andrew Luck was named the offensive player of the year with California linebacker Mychal Kendricks named the Pat Tillman defensive player of the year.  Marqise Lee from USC and DeGÇÖAnthony Thomas from Oregon were the co-freshmen offensive players of the year and Dion Bailey, a linebacker from USC, the freshman defensive player of the year.  David Shaw of Stanford was named coach of the year.

Bakhtiari replaced NFL first round draft pick Nate Solder at left tackle for the Buffs and despite missing the better part of three games, he graded out to 84.4 percent, the second highest mark on the team.  In 630 offensive snaps, he recorded plus plays on 532 of them, including 21 great effort blocks and two touchdown blocks.  He allowed just two sacks, three pressures and had one penalty in those 630 snaps.

Bakhtiari was one of just five sophomores honored on the first or second teams and the youngest offensive lineman.  Of the 10 offensive linemen honored, five were seniors and four juniors, along with Bakhtiari.

Adkins, a senior from Castle Rock, Colo., graded out the highest among offensive linemen for the Buffaloes this season at 85.0 percent, playing in 804 of 851 offensive snaps.  He had 26 great effort blocks, second most on the team, and totaled two touchdown blocks.  He allowed two sacks, one pressure and had four penalties in the 804 plays.  His season best grade was 91.4 percent against Arizona.

Hartigan, a senior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., had eight sacks on the season and 15 in his career and finished his career with two sacks at Utah, his fourth career multi-sack game.  His 15 career sacks ranks 12th in CU history as he tied his position coach, Alfred Williams.  He finished the season with 31 tackles, seven quarterback pressures, three third down stops and one pass break-up.

Henderson, a freshman from Corona, Calif., started all 13 games for the Buffaloes as a true freshman replacing two NFL draft picks in Jimmy Smith and Jalil Brown at cornerback.  He played 821 defensive snaps for CU this year, by far the most on the team and the most for a true freshman on defense in CU history.  He had 58 tackles, recording his first sack in the Utah game, and had nine pass break-ups and one interception.  He forced and recovered one fumble and had three tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Pericak, a junior from Boulder, Colo., played in all 13 games for the Buffaloes and saw action in 652 defensive plays this year.  He finished the season with 64 tackles and had five third down stops, eight quarterback pressures and two pass break-ups.  He was in one a half sack and two total tackles for loss.  In CUGÇÖs two wins in its last three games, he had 10 tackles, three quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery and pass-break-up.
