Clayton Named WhiteWave Homegrown Hero

BOULDER - Cameron Clayton has been named this weekGÇÖs recipient
of the WhiteWave Homegrown Hero in the University of ColoradoGÇÖs
partnership with the company to recognize the stateGÇÖs homegrown
heroes.
The fifth year senior from Superior, Colo., who prepped at
Monarch High School is majoring in Molecular, Cellular and
Developmental Biology and Spanish and has been honored for his
academics multiple times throughout his time at Colorado.
In 2007, he ran in three meets for the Buffaloes that included
a fifth place finish at the Air Force Invitational before he took a
redshirt in 2008. In 2009, he ran in a pair of meets and took
a 10th place at CUGÇÖs Rocky Mountain Shootout. Last season, he
ran in all of CUGÇÖs meets including NCAA Championships and
regionals. His best placement on the season was a 13th at the
Rocky Mountain Shootout.
In high school, he was a three-time All-Front Range first team
selection in cross country and four time All-State selection.
He earned a top 10 performance at the state meet as a junior
(sixth) and senior (fifth). He set school records in the
1,600-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.
He came from an athletic family, as his older brother played
club volleyball at CU. His hobbies include scuba diving,
reading, backpacking, hiking, biking, kayaking watching movies and
playing video games.
