The Buffaloes are 2-2 on the season and are coming off a 7-0 shutout over Metro State last Sunday.
Junior Michala Hedelund Jensen is off to a strong start to the season with 14 wins in 19 matches, including a 3-1 start this spring. Freshman Kristina Schleich has won 11 singles matches and is 3-1 since January. In doubles, the freshmen pair of Carla Manzi Tenorio and Winde Janssens are 6-2 in 2010-11 (2-0 in spring play), followed by Hedelund Jensen and senior Abbie Probert with four wins.
Last Sunday, Probert won twice for her 96th and 97th career victories ranking 22nd overall on the CU all-time victories list. Probert also ranks eighth in career doubles wins with 58. With two more doubles wins, she'll become the eighth CU woman in history to win 60 doubles matches.
Oregon is 5-2 during the non-conference portion of the schedule and is represented by the No. 45 nationally ranked doubles team of Pavlina Smatova and Patricia Skowronski. The duo is 15-4 overall record and 5-0 start to the dual season. Smatova also cracked the singles rankings, checking in at No. 106 this week. She boasts a 12-7 singles record and a 4-2 mark in dual play.
Oregon's six returners account for 74 of its 105 singles victories (70.5 percent) from a year ago. The Ducks bring back four of their six regular singles players from dual competition last season, including Smatova (No. 17 singles player in the ITA Northwest Region), sophomore Julia Metzger (20-20 last season), junior Trudie du Toit (15 singles wins in 2010) and sophomore Patricia Skowronski (10 victories in 2010).
Oregon will take on New Mexico at the Meadows Club on Saturday at 11 a.m.
On Sunday, the Buffs and the Lobos will play one another at 10 a.m. New Mexico is 5-3 on the season, and has won three of their last four matches. CU defeated both Oregon and New Mexico last season by 7-0 scores.
CU closes the home non-conference portion of the schedule this weekend. They will return home with their final Big 12 Conference opener, Sunday, March 13 against No. 25 Oklahoma. After the OU match, the Buffs will be home for five more conference home matches.
