TOWSON, Md. - University of Colorado men's basketball senior guard Levi Knutson was named to the Capital One Academic All-America-« Men's Basketball second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced Tuesday.

Knutson is the fourth CU men's basketball student-athlete named a CoSIDA Academic All-America selection, and the 49th Buff since 1960 to earn this prestigious academic honor.

Knutson joins former CU men's basketball standouts Pat Frink (1968, second team); Jim Creighton (1972, third team); and Jack Magno (1980, third team).

Knutson is having his best season-to date with career numbers in points per game (11.4), made field goals (108), field goal percentage (52.2), and currently leads the team with 52 three-pointers.  He tops the Big 12 Conference (all games) in three-point percentage (.481).

In the classroom, Knutson is a business administration major with an emphasis in finance and carries a 3.92 grade point average.

Originally from Littleton, Colo., Knutson is a three-time All-Big 12 Academic first team selection, a five-time Commissioners Honor Roll, and a six-time Dean's List honoree. He's achieved a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average in the Fall 2009 and Spring 2009 semesters, and earned CU's Scholar-Athlete Award for highest Junior G.P.A. in 2009-2010 (3.929).

The soon-to-be four-year letterwinner has helped the Buffaloes to a 16-11 record this season. Earlier this season against a nationally televised audience, Knutson scored a season-high 22 points with six three-pointers in a home win over Oregon State, then later in another nationally televised game, scored 20 points with another six treys in CU's upset road win against then-No. 20 ranked Kansas State.

Knutson is joined on the University second team by Nathan Hedgecock of the United States Military Academy, Blake Hoffarber of Minnesota, Garrett Leffelman of Brown, and Jalin Thomas of Central Michigan.
