BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - University of Colorado volunteer assistant coach Emily Pearson placed sixth at the USA Track & Field Indoor Combined Events Championship on Sunday at Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University.

Pearson recorded 4,063 points in the pentathlon, just 55 points from fifth place. She placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.60 seconds), fifth in the high jump (5 feet, 7 inches), eighth in the shot put (38-04), seventh in the long jump (18-03.25) and third in the 800-meter run (2:17.86). Nike's Bettie Wade won the meet with 4,439 points.

"Emily had the meet of her life capped off with a personal record in the 800 and overall score," assistant coach Lindsey Malone said. "I am very happy with her progress and development going into next year's Olympic Trials."

Brianne Beemer, who redshirted the 2011 indoor season, placed eighth at the championship with 3,628 points. Beemer won the 800 part of the event with a time of 2:14.47. She was eighth in the high jump (5-04.50) and ninth in the 60-hurdles (9.23) shot put (32-02) and long jump (16-06).

"Brianne proved she can perform at her best in the most elite indoor meet in the U.S.," Malone said. "Both Bri and Emily competed with composure, confidence and consistency. I am thrilled that they had the opportunity to compete at the USA Championships together."
