Von Hagen Places Sixth At Jim Click
TUCSON, Ariz. -The University of Colorado combined events athletes had a successful showing completing the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon at the Jim Click Combined Events meet at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Friday.
CU junior Alex Von Hagen placed sixth overall in the men's decathlon with a personal record of 6,724 points. Following high marks from yesterday's portion of the combined events, Von Hagen added a first-place finish today in the 1,500-meter run, recording a time of 4 minutes, 28.89 seconds. Von Hagen also recorded a personal record of 16.11 in the 110-meter hurdles, landing him third in the Colorado's combined events record books.
Finishing 12th and 13th, Eddie Taylor and Brock Emory both recorded personal records in today's various events. Taylor had two PRs on the day, running the 110-hurdles in 16.47 and earning a pole vaulting mark of 13 feet, 11.25 inches. Emory also had a pair of PRs in the discus throw and 1500; throwing for a distance of 104-05, and running the 1500 in 4:58.39.
Colorado's Adam Salzmann finished 15th overall with 4,911 points and a new PR in the javelin throw, recording a toss of 155-06 feet.
Holly Odneal and Genny Mayden were the two women representing CU in the final events of today's women's heptathlon. Odneal finished in 10th position with a personal best 4,454 points, while Mayden finished 13th with 3,129.
Odneal outdid her previous personal record in the long jump, recording a jump of 15-05.50 feet.
The Buffs will next compete at the CU Invitational April 8-9 at Potts Field.
