NEW ORLEANS - The University of Colorado women's track and field team is now the 16th ranked team in the nation according to the most recent USTFCCCA Rankings released on Tuesday.

The Buffs have a team total of 111.42 points in the computer generated poll and moved up one position from 17th in last week's rankings.

The rankings take into consideration the top 50 places in each event and the Buffs have been doing quite well in the distance events. Emma Coburn ran the fourth best time in the 1,500-meter run in the NCAA this season at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday night (4:14.34). Three other Buffs rank in the top 50 of the 1,500. Camille Logan currently owns the 14th fastest time (4:19.62), while Jessica Pixler ranks 43rd overall (4:23.12). Shalaya Kipp has the 44th best time in the NCAA at 4:23.20.

Pixler has run the sixth fastest time in the world this season in the 5k, which is the best time run by a collegiate runner this season (15:25.58). She is also 31st in the 800 (2:07.42) while Liz Tremblay adds to CU's point total in the 800 since she is ranked 46th overall (2:08.45).

Laura Thweatt ran the ninth best NCAA 5k time this season at Mt. SAC, finishing in 15:57.24. She also ranks 37th in the 10k (34:33.08). Logan is 38th in the 10k as she finished just behind Thweatt in 34:33.24, but she also ranks 32nd in the 5k after clocking 16:15.19 at Mt. SAC. Kipp and Katie Cumming round out CU's 5k runners in the top 50 with Kipp ranked 12th (16:01.26) and Cumming ranked 23rd (16:10.85).

Texas A&M is the top ranked team in the women's poll and Florida leads the way in the men's poll.

The Buffs will compete at the Jack Christiansen Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo. on Saturday, April 23, as well as the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge, La.
