Coburn and Nelson Ranked #1
BOULDER - The 2011 U.S. Track and Field New Rankings are out and the University of Colorado owns the top spot in the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Assistant coach Billy Nelson and senior Emma Coburn won the 2011 USATF Steeplechase crowns in June and went on to compete at the IAAF World Championships. Each set personal records in the event during the outdoor campaign. Nelson clocked a time of 8 minutes, 17.27 seconds at the Monaco Grand Prix, while Coburn raced to a time of 9:37.16 at the London Grand Prix.
The 2012 track and field season officially gets underway for the Buffs on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Potts Invitational at Balch Fieldhouse. The meet will run through Saturday, Jan. 21. For complete meet details and a schedule please check CUBuffs.com.
