COACH ELLIOTT ON BROWN: "Amelia is a true team
player who understands what it takes to win and believes in the
team first concept. She is very versatile and can play both
midfield and attack. Her strong stick skills and creative play make
her a very fun player to watch. Amelia is the type of player that
never gives up and we are excited to have her in our first
recruiting class."
HIGH SCHOOL: Brown was a four-year letter-winner
in lacrosse at Notre Dame Academy. In her first three seasons
alone, Brown scored 40 goals and led the team with 27 assists. In
her senior season, Brown helped lead the squad to the fiercely
contended Division I State Championship title, finishing the season
with a 24-2 record. As a junior, she earned numerous honors
including becoming a Patriot Ledger Lacrosse All-Scholastic, ESPN
Boston All-State Lacrosse Team honorable mention, EMGLCA All-Star
second-team and Lower New England Lacrosse Team 2 selection. She
was also named to the Lower New England Lacrosse Team 4 her
sophomore season. She competed with the Mass Elite Lacrosse club
team from 2006-12. An outstanding alpine ski racer, Brown won four
consecutive Ski East League Girls Championships. She was named to
the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Alpine Ski Team all four years and
earned their Skier of the Year title as a junior. She was an
individual state champion for slalom in 2011 and competed in the
Junior Olympics for alpine in 2009 and 2010. Brown also played four
years as a defender and midfielder for Notre Dame Academy's soccer
team, contributing eight assists as the 2012 captain. Her
accomplishments on the ski slopes and both lacrosse and soccer
fields helped her to the Notre Dame Academy Outstanding Athlete
Award, given to the schoolGÇÖs top athlete over a four-year
career.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Brown hopes to major in
international affairs, and is also interested in Spanish.
PERSONAL: Amelia Brown is the daughter of Steve
and Shelia Brown. Brown was born on January 10, 1995. Her father is
the senior vice president of UBS Financial Services. Brown's
grandfather, Wilbur Brown, played football, basketball and baseball
at the Maine Maritime Academy, and her uncle, Tony McLaughlin,
played basketball at Roger Williams College. She is a descendant of
George Soule, who came to Plymouth, Mass. on the Mayflower. Brown
has worked as a lacrosse camp counselor and volunteered for the
Children's Well-Being Foundation. Brown hopes to join the Peace
Corp after graduation. Her favorite athlete is Lindsey Vonn, and
she likes the music of Dave Matthews. She's a Boston Bruins fan who
enjoys skiing and snowboarding.
