COACH ELLIOTT ON MCCAIN: "Claire started playing
lacrosse in high school and has constantly improved her game and
gained confidence year to year. Her speed, quickness and aggressive
style of play make her very versatile and a threat on both ends of
the field. Claire is a great athlete that we believe will continue
to reach new levels in our program!"
HIGH SCHOOL: McCain excelled in two sports at New
Trier. She captained both New TrierGÇÖs lacrosse and ice hockey teams
as a senior. McCain earned back-to-back All-Conference and
All-State honors in her final two seasons of lacrosse. In 2012, the
team won the Central Suburban League Championship and earned a spot
in the state championship game. That year, McCain was named to the
Under Armour All-America Midwest and Chicago Metro National teams.
McCain also played for the True Lacrosse club from 2011-12. She was
a four-year letter-winner in hockey, helping New Trier to a state
championship in 2012.
IN THE CLASSROOM: McCain plans on majoring in
communication, but is also interested in science.
PERSONAL: Claire McCain was born April 19, 1995.
Her parents, Dan and Laura, work in real estate and were both
collegiate athletes at Fordham University. Her father played
football, and her mother competed in track. McCain enjoys playing
tennis and basketball, skiing and water skiing. She enjoys Indian
food and the Chicago Blackhawks. Her favorite movies are
Bridesmaids and Miracle. She has made honor roll all four years of
high school and joined the National Spanish Honor Society her
junior year. She chose CU for the beautiful campus and for the
excitement of being a part of a new program.
