COACH ELLIOTT ON BAKER: "Perri is a strong athlete
with great field vision and solid stick skills. Perri has a great
understanding for the game on both the offensive and defensive
sides. We are excited about Perri's versatility and leadership
skills on the field, specifically on the defensive side."
HIGH SCHOOL: Baker excelled as a four-year
letter-winner at Bay Shore. The Marauders won two Suffolk County
Championships in a three year span, taking home titles in 2010 and
2013. The team also won the Long Island Championship in
2012. In BakersGÇÖ final two seasons of lacrosse at
Bay Shore, she received back-to-back honors as an All-County
selection, an Academic All-American and an MVP. As a junior, she
was also an All-Tournament and National School Girls second-team
selection. Baker played on the Long Island Top Guns club and
competed in three sports at Bay Shore in addition to lacrosse. In
the No. 1 singles and doubles positions in tennis, she was a
four-time All-County selection, was named team captain and MVP her
junior and senior seasons and received All-League honors her
freshman year. In her fourth season with the basketball team, Baker
was honored an Academic All-County selection. Baker also did
a season of winter track.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Baker's intended major at CU is
business. She is also interested in engineering.
PERSONAL: Perri Baker was born on June 11, 1995 to
Charles and Germaine Baker. Her favorite athlete is New York Giants
wide receiver Victor Cruz. She enjoys the band Mumford and Sons and
the movie Baby Mama. She has worked as a lifeguard during the
summers in New York. She has taken the National Mythology Exam and
is a member of the National Honor Society. She chose CU for the
great academics and the experience of being on the first women's
lacrosse team.
