BOULDERGÇöDenverGÇÖs Mike Fye has been named the Sports Authority
Hometown Hero this week in a partnership between the sporting goods
company and the University of Colorado Athletics to recognize
heroes of the local sports communities around Colorado.
Fye is a program specialist for Sports Buddies Plus, a program
that is a part of the Big Brother Big Sister of Colorado. He
facilitates countless activities that pairs mentors with kids and
most activities revolve around sports. He conducts training,
background checks, interviews of mentors to ensure the best
possible matches.
He was nominated by Ron Adelson, who said GÇ£I donGÇÖt know how
many matches there are in the program, but itGÇÖs an incredibly high
number. He dedicates countless hours during the week and
weekend, his dedication never stops. He epitomizes what it
means to donate, volunteer and advocate.GÇ¥
Sports Authority and the University of Colorado athletic
department are honored to recognize Fry as a Sports Authority
Hometown Hero. As the winner, he will receive a $100 gift
card to Sports Authority, a t-shirt and a certification of
merit.
Due to NCAA rules and regulations regarding recruiting, any
high school aged person (ninth grade and above, or seventh grade
and above for boys basketball) and any coach of a high school aged
student-athlete are not eligible for this program.
