A three-year letterman in the famed single-wing offense under Dal Ward, he earned honorable mention All-American and first-team All-Big 7 honors as a senior in 1958 ... Also lettered in track and was an accomplished high hurdler ... In 1989, he was selected as a member of CU's All-Century Football Team, honoring the first 100 years of the sport at the school ... Inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 1972 ... He caught 41 passes for 628 yards and 6 touchdowns in his CU career, big numbers for a primarily rushing offense; he threw for 769 yards and 7 touchdowns and also rushed for 65 yards and 3 TD's ... On defense, he made 10 interceptions, second-most in school history at the time ... Also the team's punter, he averaged 43.6 yards for 106 punts (28 inside-the-20); it was the second best average in school annals at the time and still ranks sixth; he ranked fourth nationally on two occasions ... He scored a touchdown and caught one pass in CU's 27-21 win over Clemson in the '57 Orange Bowl, the school's first bowl victory ... To this day, remains one of the tallest receivers in CU history at 6-foot-5 ... Played in the East-West Shrine Game and the College All-Stars vs. the NFL game ahead of the 1959 season ... After being drafted by Green Bay in the third round (25th player overall) in the 1959 NFL Draft, he went on to play 12 seasons in the pros, 11 for Green Bay (1959-1969) and his last, in 1971, for Washington ... He was the 1959 NFL Rookie-of-the-Year and was selected to the league's all-decade team for the 1960s ... In his career playing flanker, split end and wide receiver, he had 474 receptions for 7,270 yards (15.3 per), with 40 touchdowns ... He also was Green Bay's punter for three seasons, averaging 42.9 yards per punt with a long of 75 twice ... He played a major role in Green Bay's 1960s dynasty under coach Vince Lombardi, leading the team in receiving seven seasons as the Packers won five NFL titles and posted victories in Super Bowls I and II ... He earned All-Pro honors on two occasions (1962, 1967), played in two Pro Bowls (1965, 1967) and was inducted into the Packers'Â Hall of Fame in 1978 ... Worked as an assistant coach (L.A. Rams, Washington) and as a college scout after his playing days ... A native of Rock Springs, Wyo., he is the State of Wyoming Hall of Fame.
