Look Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
BOULDER GÇô Recent University of Colorado graduate Nikki Look has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country First Team as selected by CoSIDA.
Look, a native of Castle Rock, Colo., finished her four-year career with a perfect 4.00 grade point average while earning a bachelorGÇÖs in applied mathematics and a Certificate in International Business in Spanish. She was a member of the DeanGÇÖs List all eight semesters while competing on the cross country and track and field teams.
This is LookGÇÖs second appearance on a CoSIDA Academic All-District team; she was honored as a part of the second team in 2012 as a junior. Earlier this year, Look was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, which she will use this fall when she starts medical school at the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus. She was also named a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Scholar for indoor track and field and was honored as one of CUGÇÖs Scholar-Athletes at the academic breakfast in April for the second straight year.
Since arriving on campus, Look has been racking up awards. In 2010, she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and in 2011 she earned the same honor for track and field. Her most decorated year was 2012. She was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First team for cross country and track and field and was an MPSF All-Academic Scholar. Look was also honored with the Buffalo Leadership and Initiative Award at the 2012 academic breakfast.
Her final season with the Buffs was plagued by injuries, but Look did run in a pair of 1,500-meter runs in April. She recorded a season-best time of 4:53.73 at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 19 and ran 4:58.16 at the Jack Christiansen Invitational on April 27. During the cross country season, Look ran in a pair of meets. She started the season at the Rocky Mountain Shootout, finishing 16th overall (22:16). LookGÇÖs second race was a 5-kilometer run at the Santa Clara Bronco Invite, where she placed 32rd overall (17:59.8).
