Sanchez Adds Four Transfers To 2014 Roster

BOULDER GÇô Danny Sanchez has added four transfer student-athletes
to the University of Colorado soccer roster, bringing the additions
to the 2014 roster to 10 total.
GÇ£We are very excited to add these four student-athletes to our
university and soccer program,GÇ¥ coach Sanchez said. GÇ£They all come
from very good programs that participated in the 2013 NCAA
tournament. They have vast experience, not only at the highest
levels of NCAA soccer, but also internationally. Three of them are
already enrolled and participating in spring workouts, which is
great for them and the team. Although we lost four very good impact
senior starters from last yearGÇÖs Sweet 16 team, we feel these
players, along with our six incoming freshmen, will continue to
move the program forward.GÇ¥
The group includes two midfielders, one defender and one
goalkeeper. Two players will begin their sophomore season in 2014,
while two will enter their junior years.
Madi Hall and Morgan Stanton both hail from Lakewood, Colo. and
played their club ball with the prestigious Colorado Rush. Hall, a
defender, spent her freshman season at Portland, and Stanton, a
midfielder, played at Santa Clara as a freshman.
Kahlia Hogg becomes just the second Buff to come out of Australia.
The Campbell, ACT, Australia native played two seasons as a
midfielder at Florida State. Seattle native Kate Scheele played
with Crossfire Premier before coming to the Centennial State to
play for Colorado College. By her sophomore season, Scheele had
become CCGÇÖs primary goalkeeper.
Madi Hall, Defender
5-7, Lakewood, Colo. (DGÇÖEvelyn)

COACH SANCHEZ ON HALL: GÇ£Madi is transferring in from the
University of Portland. She is a back that can play centrally or
wide and has experience in a U.S. U-17 National Team Camp. Madi
played her youth soccer with the Colorado Rush and has been a
teammate with Morgan Stanton for years. She is enrolled and is
working out with the team now. We are very excited that Madi
decided to come back home and be a Buff.GÇ¥
FRESHMAN (2013 at PORTLAND): Hall played nine
games and got two starts, playing 255 minutes as a freshman at
Portland. She netted one goal off three shots. Her goal helped the
Pilots get the early lead over Wyoming, a game the Pilots would win
4-2.
HIGH SCHOOL: Hall was a three-year letter-winner
at DGÇÖEvelyn. As a freshman, she was an All-Jefferson County
honorable mention. As the team captain her senior year, Hall
received first-team All-State honors and was named the JeffCo MVP.
She earned All-American status in 2012. A longtime captain of the
Colorado Rush, Hall helped the club to state championships in 2009
and GÇÖ11, a ninth place finish at the 2012 ECNL Nationals and a
runner-up finish at nationals in 2013. Hall was a member of the
state ODP team every year she was eligible, and was a member of the
Region IV team in 2010 and GÇÖ11. Hall was invited to the id2
Regional and National Camp three times from 2009-11 and to the U.S.
National Camp in 2011.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Hall majors in business.
PERSONAL: Madison Nicole Hall was born on February
5, 1995 to parents Dave and Diana Hall. Hall has three older
siblings: Jake and Rachelle Harmon and Whitney Hall. HallGÇÖs father
Dave played baseball at CU, and her cousin, Taylor, played soccer
at Gonzaga. Hall was a member of the National Honor Society and the
Interact club at DGÇÖEvelyn. After graduation, she hopes to become an
athletic director. She loves dogs. Hall says she chose CU because
itGÇÖs a beautiful school in a great location and the team is
excellent.
Kahlia Hogg, Midfielder
5-6, Campbell, Australian Capital Territory, Australia (Merici
College)
Club: Canberra United
Previous School: Florida State
COACH SANCHEZ ON HOGG: GÇ£Kahlia has joined us from Florida
State and is currently enrolled at CU. Kahlia has vast experiences
with the Australian Young Matildas (youth national teams) and
played for the National Championship this past fall with FSU. She
can play anywhere in the midfield or as a wide back. Kahlia is a
tremendous student that was really drawn to our nationally ranked
engineering department.GÇ¥
SOPHOMORE (2013 at FLORIDA STATE): Hogg appeared
in eight games, playing double digits in five. She saw action in
three of FSUGÇÖs six NCAA Tournament games, playing against South
Alabama, Colorado and Boston College.
FRESHMAN (2012 at FLORIDA STATE): Hogg saw minutes
in 10 games and made two starts. She made her collegiate debut in
FSUGÇÖs 1-0 victory over then-No. 22 Florida. She made her first
start in the next game, taking three shots against the College of
Charleston. Hogg played a season-high 66 minutes against Jackson
State, hitting a shot on goal as FSU won 5-0. Against Clemson, Hogg
added an assist in the 86th minute, helping the Seminoles to a 7-0
victory. Hogg made her second start in the semifinals of the ACC
Tournament, and saw action in the first round of the NCAA
Tournament. Hogg earned a spot on the ACC Academic Honor Roll, the
fall 2012 DeanGÇÖs List and the Spring 2013 PresidentGÇÖs List.
HIGH SCHOOL: Hogg garnered national attention as a
standout in her homeland of Australia. She played three seasons
with Canberra United in the Westfield W-League, earning the Rising
Star award following the 2009-10 season. She also was a member of
the Chelsea U-14 Centre of Excellence team in England from 2006-08
and participated in the ACT Academy of Sport from 2008-11. Hogg was
a member of the U-17 and U-20 Australian National Teams and was
presented with the Pierre de Coubertin Award by the Australian
Olympic Committee.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Hogg majors in mechanical
engineering.
PERSONAL: Kahlia Hogg was born on December 9, 1993
to parents Steve and Andrea Hogg. She has a younger brother,
Lachlan, and a younger sister, Teaghan. Her father Steve played
soccer for the Australian MenGÇÖs National Team, the Socceroos. Hogg
enjoys mountain biking, skiing, running, reading and listening to
music. She has lived in five different countries: Australia,
Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and the United States. Hogg chose
Colorado because of the great coaching staff and world-class
university.
Kate Scheele, Goalkeeper
5-8, Seattle, Wash. (Roosevelt)
Club: Crossfire Premier ECNL
Previous School: Colorado College
COACH SANCHEZ ON SCHEELE: GÇ£Kate will add great experience
and depth to our goalkeeper competition next fall. She was
first-team All-Conference USA and the Conference USA Tournament
Defensive MVP as Colorado College won both the regular season and
tournament championships in 2013. Kate played her club ball with
Crossfire Premier out of Seattle. She is a great addition for the
Buffs.GÇ¥
SOPHOMORE (2013 at COLORADO COLLLEGE): Scheele had
a standout season as a sophomore at CC. She helped the squad to
Conference USA regular season and tournament championships. She was
named to the CUSA First Team and earned conference defensive player
of the week and CUSA Tournament Most Valuable Defensive Player
honors. Scheele started all 22 of CCGÇÖs games, spending just under
2000 minutes in the net and posting a 15-4-3 record. The Tigers
dropped three of their first five games (two of which were against
ranked opponents), but didnGÇÖt lose again until the end of
conference play, helping them advance to the NCAA Tournament, where
they fell in the first round to Duke in a shootout. Scheele
improved in every area of play in her second year, allowing just 17
goals, for a goals-against average of 0.77, while grabbing 74 saves
(and posting an .813 save percentage) and helping shut out a total
of 13 opponents.
FRESHMAN (2012 at COLORADO COLLEGE): As a
freshman, Scheele started 10 of her 12 games played, including the
first five games of the season. She recorded four shutouts in 2012
and became the first CC freshman since 2005 to record back-to-back
shutouts (against in-state rivals Denver and Colorado) to begin her
career. She posted a 4-2-4 record, including a 2-2-1 mark in
Conference USA play, helping the Tigers to the regular season
title. Scheele made a season-high 10 saves at No. 5 BYU. At
seasonGÇÖs end, she ranked in CUSAGÇÖs top 10 with four shutouts, a
.333 shutouts per game average, a .790 save percentage and a 4.08
saves per game average.
HIGH SCHOOL: During her prep career, Scheele stood
out both athletically and academically. At Roosevelt, Scheele was
on honor roll for three years and earned an AP Scholar Award in
2012. With Crossfire Premier ECNL, Scheele helped her club to the
regional finals in 2009 and semifinals in 2010. In 2011, she led
Crossfire to the Washington State Championship and the ECNL finals,
helping her to a spot on the ECNL National Showcase Event Series
All-Event Team in San Antonio. The following year, she earned a
spot on the All-Event Team in San Diego. Scheele also shined as a
member of the Washington State ODP team from 2007-10. During each
of those four years, she also attended the Region IV camp. She was
invited to the U.S. U-18 National Team training camp in 2012.
Scheele was also a member of the W-League player pools for both the
Seattle Sounders in 2012 and the Colorado Rapids in 2013.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Scheele is a history
major.
PERSONAL: Kathryn Scheele was born on August 6,
1994 in Walla Walla, Washington. Her parents Leonard and Suzanne
Scheele are both retired doctors of medicine. Her mother, who
played water polo at Harvard, also works as a biomedical
researcher. ScheeleGÇÖs father was a professional cyclist. Her
brother Steve wrestled for Stanford and currently attends the
University of Michigan Law School. When not playing soccer, she
enjoys baking, reading, drawing and hiking. After graduation, she
hopes to become a history teacher or pursue a career in foreign
affairs. Scheele is bilingual, fluently speaking English and
Spanish, and volunteered as an ESL (English as a Second Language)
teacherGÇÖs assistant. Scheele chose Colorado because she loves the
atmosphere and support for student-athletes. She calls it an honor
to be part of the legacy the dedicated players and coaches at
Colorado are creating.
Morgan Stanton, Midfielder
5-1, Lakewood, Colo. (Bear Creek)
Club: Colorado Rush
Previous School: Santa Clara
COACH SANCHEZ ON STANTON: GÇ£Morgan is a very technical
midfielder who played her club soccer with Madi Hall and the
Colorado Rush. She is transferring in from Santa Clara. Morgan
played with the USA at the 2012 U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan where
she scored one goal in two appearances. It is great to get Morgan
back to Colorado.GÇ¥
FRESHMAN (2013 at SANTA CLARA): Stanton saw action
in seven of the BroncosGÇÖ games. Her one shot, taken in Santa
ClaraGÇÖs 1-0 overtime victory over Fresno State, was on goal.
HIGH SCHOOL: Stanton played one year of soccer at
Bear Creek, earning first-team All-Conference honors as a
sophomore, but chose to focus her attention primarily on her club
team, Colorado Rush. The captain of her U-11 to U-18 teams, Stanton
helped the club to a U-18 ECNL finalist spot. She was also a
W-League member from U-14 through U-18. She was named an NSCAA
Youth All-American in 2012 and GÇÖ13. Stanton was a member of the
U-13-U-15 State and Regional ODP teams. In the U.S. National Team
Pool from U-14 to U-20, Stanton was a member of the U-17 World Cup
team, scoring a goal against Gambia. Stanton ranked 23rd in the Top
Drawer Soccer IMG Academy 150, also ranking fifth in the Rocky
Mountain and Southwest Region and eighth amongst midfielders.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Stanton is currently an open
option major.
PERSONAL: Morgan Danielle Stanton was born on
February 4, 1995. Her parents are Dan and Renee Stanton, a business
owner and a customer service manager, respectively. She has a
younger sister, Julia. She enjoys playing with her dogs and hanging
out with family and friends. She volunteered with the Rush REACH
program. Though she has lived in Colorado her whole life, and
traveled to many other countries around the world, she has never
skied or snowboarded. Stanton chose Colorado to be closer to home
and to attend a beautiful school.
