Colorado Invited To 2014 Postseason WNIT

BOULDER
- The University of Colorado is one of 64 teams
selected to participate in the 2014 Postseason Women's National
Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
Colorado, 17-14 overall, will
open WNIT play by hosting Texas Christian University on Wednesday,
March 19, at 7 p.m. MDT at the Coors Events Center. The winner
of Wednesday's game will face either Colorado State University or
Southern Utah University in a second round matchup in the time
frame of March 22-25.
TCU is 18-14 overall and finished
seventh in ColoradoGÇÖs former affiliation, the Big 12 Conference, at
8-10. The Horned Frogs earned the Big 12GÇÖs automatic bid into the
tournament.
Colorado finished tied with
Oregon for ninth in the Pac-12 Conference with a record of 6-12.
The Buffaloes are one of four Pac-12 teams in the field joining the
Ducks, Washington and Washington State.
"We are excited to be given the
opportunity to keep playing," fourth-year CU head coach Linda Lappe
said. "I really feel we are playing our best basketball at the end
of the season. We are proud to represent the Pac-12 Conference and
the University of Colorado as we head into the postseason for the
fourth-straight season.GÇ¥
Colorado advances to postseason
play for the 22nd time in team history. This will be the BuffaloesGÇÖ
fifth trip to the postseason WNIT. CU is 10-4 in WNIT play
advancing to the quarterfinals in 2011 and 2012 and the semifinals
in 2008.
The Buffaloes and Horned Frogs
have some recent WNIT history. Colorado defeated TCU 96-90 in an
overtime thriller in the quarterfinals of the 2008 event in
Boulder.
Tickets begin at $11 for adults
and $6 for youth/senior general admission and up to $21 for
reserved courtside seats. CU Boulder student tickets are $6
with a Buff OneCard.
Season ticket holders will
be notified via email overnight Monday on how to obtain tickets in
their same seats online. If you do not receive an email, call
the CU Athletic Ticket Office at 303-492-5858. Season ticket
holders will have until 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, to get their
tickets either online or by phone. At 7 p.m. they will be released
to the public.
For season ticket accounts that
claim their tickets by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, their tickets all tickets
will be sent via Print-at-home for accounts with a valid email
address. All others will be available at Will Call at the Folsom
Field Ticket office starting at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and at the
Coors Events Center Ticket Office starting one hour prior to tip
off. For Will Call, please bring a photo ID to claim your
tickets.
The general public can buy
tickets beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday online at www.CUBuffs.com/tickets,
at all TicketsWest Outlets in King Soopers, by calling 303-492-8337
or in person at the Athletic Ticket Office in Folsom Field (open
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday). The Coors Events
Center Ticket Office will open one hour prior to tip off.
Colorado home games during the
Postseason WNIT will be streamed live through its Pac-12.com video
portal. All Colorado games will be carried live on KKZN AM 760 and
online audio coverage is also available through the BuffsTV player
at CUBuffs.com.
