BOULDER GÇö The University of Colorado volleyball team will start its spring practices on Friday, March 7, to prepare for its spring schedule.

The Buffs will practice for two weeks before taking a week off for spring break, March 24-28. After the team returns to campus, it will have a full week of practices before taking part in an intra-squad sand volleyball scrimmage on April 5 at 11 a.m., at The Oasis in Broomfield, Colo.

The following week, CU will host an alumni sand volleyball event on April 12 at 6 p.m., also at The Oasis. Any alumni who would like to participate should contact associate head coach JT Wenger (jt.wenger@colorado.edu).

The final competition of the spring season will be on April 23 against Northern Colorado at the Coors Events Center. The contest is set for a 5 p.m. start. The Bears finished the 2013 season with a 14-17 record and was 10-10 in the Big Sky.

All three events will be free and open to the public.

CU had a breakout season in 2013, finishing the year with an 18-14 record while tying for seventh in the Pac-12 with a 9-11 record. The 18 wins are the most in a single-season for the Buffs since 2003 when they recorded 21. CU also recorded its first win against a ranked opponent since 2008 and knocked off three top-25 teams during the season in No. 1 Washington, No. 11 UCLA and No. 25 Arizona.
