Tennis Hosts No. 63 New Mexico, Sunday

BOULDER GÇô It will be a busy Sunday for University of Colorado athletics as the womenGÇÖs tennis team will host No. 63 New Mexico, 11 a.m. at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.

Admission and parking are free at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House bubble.

Also on Sunday, the menGÇÖs and womenGÇÖs basketball teams will host a double-header at the Coors Events Center with the men taking on Stanford at 2 p.m., the women against Washington at 5:30 p.m.

The CU tennis team enters the Sunday matinee with New Mexico with a 5-1 record, its best start to a season since the 2005 and 2006 spring campaigns. The Lobos are the No. 63 nationally ranked team and brings a 7-1 record to the Centennial state. UNM will take on Denver, Saturday.

The Lobos lead the all-time series with the Buffaloes, 17-15, however CU has won the last four of five matches. Since 2004, the Lobos hold a 5-4 edge in the series, including last yearGÇÖs 5-2 win in Albuquerque. Senior Julyette Steur and junior Alex Aiello picked up singles wins in straight sets.

ItGÇÖs the first of three home matches for the Buffaloes. Next weekend, CU will host Nevada (Saturday, Feb. 21, 11 a.m.) and former Big 12 Conference rival Kansas (Sunday, Feb. 22, Noon). Both matches are scheduled at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center, however the site of the matches could change due to the weather and be moved outside to the CU-Boulder South Campus Courts.

MATCH NOTES
GÇó 11 of CUGÇÖs next 16 opponents are nationally ranked, including nine of 10 Pac-12 opponents.
GÇó Entering this weekend, Julyette Steur and Alex Aiello lead the Buffaloes in wins for the year with 12 and 10, respectively.
GÇó Julyette Steur is 6-0 in dual play, while Tina Bokhua and Nuria Orme+¦o Ruiz are a solid 5-1.
GÇó In doubles, Alex Aiello and Ashley Tiefel are unbeaten at No. 2 doubles (8-1 for the year) and have clinched a pair of CU doubles team wins.
GÇó Bokhua and Steur are 4-2 at No. 1 doubles and have a clinched a team-high three team wins.
GÇó In singles, Steur and Bokhua have clinched three and two team wins, respectively.
GÇó On the career lists, Steur is No. 26 with 55 career victories and No. 25 in doubles with 47 wins; Tiefel is No. 29 overall in doubles victories with 40.
GÇó Steur has 102 combined triumphs ranking No. 24 overall.

NEW MEXICO MATCH NOTES
GÇó New MexicoGÇÖs only loss was to then-No. 23 South Carolina.
GÇó New Mexico has beaten Kansas, then-No. 51 Houston, and then-No. 70 North Texas.
GÇó The Lobos are 1-0 in conference play (defeated Nevada).
