BOULDER GÇö After an exhilarating 2014 season, the University of Colorado volleyball team was eager to start its 2015 spring practices on Thursday morning.

GÇ£Our athletes are really excited to get into the next phase of our off-season,GÇ¥ coach Liz Kritza said.  GÇ£They are enthusiastic about being in the gym every day, and they are really motivated to improve both individually, and as a team.GÇ¥

CUGÇÖs first competition of the spring schedule is against Colorado State on April 2. The contest is set for 6 p.m. at the Coors Events Center. On April 4, the Buffs will head north to Greeley, Colo. to play in a 12-team tournament hosted by Northern Colorado.

The Buffs will then host a match with UNC on April 16 at 6 p.m. at the CEC.  The final date for the spring schedule will be held at Colby Community College in Colby, Kan. on April 18.  Wichita State and CU will compete in scrimmages and a variety of drills.

GÇ£Our spring schedule consists of different formats that will allow us to develop our athletes in a unique way,GÇ¥ Kritza said.  GÇ£We have two single-match competitions, one tournament, and a GÇÿfriendlyGÇÖ competition. These varieties will give us the opportunity to use different permutations of our roster in numerous situations. A contributing piece of our success has been our flexibility, and we plan to strengthen that model through this spring.GÇ¥

CU finished the 2014 season ranked 21st in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll after compiling a 20-14 overall record. The Buffs tied for fourth in the Pac-12 Conference (11-9) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. CU also tallied five wins against ranked opponents, including three on the road.
