WNBA's Atlanta Dream Signs Former Buff Chucky Jeffery

University of Colorado womenGÇÖs basketball standout Chucky
Jeffery has signed a contract with the Atlanta Dream of
the WNBA.
A 5-foot-10 guard, Jeffery played parts of the
last two seasons with the New York Liberty. Jeffery played in 15
games for the Liberty in 2014 after making her professional debut
with a pair of appearances for the New York squad in 2013. She was
originally selected by the Minnesota Lynx in the second round of
the 2013 WNBA Draft.
Jeffery played overseas for the first time in
2014-15, competing for ASC Sepsi SIC Sfantu Gheorghe of the
Romanian Liga Nationala. She was a Romanian Liga Nationala All-Star
averaging 12.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Jeffery helped
Sfantu Gheorghe to the Romanian Cup title and an appearance in the
Liga Nationala Final Series.
Jeffery was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection for
Colorado and four year letterwinner from 2009-13. As a
senior, Jeffery led Colorado in scoring (13.7 ppg), assists (4.0
apg), rebounds (8.2 rpg) and steals (2.2 spg), helping the
Buffaloes to a 25-7 record and a berth in the 2013 NCAA
Tournament.
A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeffery is
the only player in program history to record 1,600 points, 900
rebounds and 400 assists, ending her career sixth in scoring
(1,644), fifth in rebounding (921) and fourth in assists
(481).
Atlanta is coming off its sixth straight WNBA
Playoff berth and has won three Eastern Conference titles since
2010.
The Dream are coached by former Los Angeles
Lakers great Michael Cooper, who has a pair of WNBA titles to his
coaching resume with the L.A. Sparks. The one-time Denver Nuggets
coach was also the head womenGÇÖs coach at USC from 2009-13 while
Jeffery played for the Buffaloes.
