BOULDER GÇô Sophomore Paige Soenksen of the University of Colorado lacrosse team was named to the Intercollegiate WomenGÇÖs Lacrosse Coaches Association Midwest/West All-Regional Second Team on Monday.

Soenksen, a goalkeeper from Encinitas, Calif. was one of only two Buffaloes to start in all 18 games this season and played a pivotal role on defense. She made 151 saves and recorded an impressive .489 save percentage, which ranked first among conference goalies. Soenksen also averaged an MPSF-leading 8.39 saves per game, while logging more than 950 minutes in the cage. Her 9.51 goals against average was fourth-best in the league and she also capped her second season in black and gold by picking up a career-high 34 groundballs, third-most on the team.

This marks the second consecutive IWLCA All-Regional team selection for Soenksen as she was also named to the West Region second team during the BuffsGÇÖ inaugural 2014 season. Soenksen will add this honor to a handful of other awards she earned throughout her sophomore campaign, helping CU record its second straight 11-win season. She was named to the All-MPSF First Team, the MPSF All-Tournament Team and was a league-leading MPSF Defensive Player of the Week four times.

Eight student-athletes from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation were named to the Midwest/West All-Regional teams. Stanford and Southern California both had three selections while Colorado and Denver each had one.

Soenksen was one of 128 Division I student-athletes selected to an All-Regional team by the IWLCA. These student-athletes are now eligible to earn a spot on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 18.
