BOULDER GÇô Seniors Brooke Wales Granstrom and Rune Oedegaard were both named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 MenGÇÖs and WomenGÇÖs At-Large teams, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. The duo is now automatically nominated for Academic All-America honors.

The two were both one of 12 in their gender honored in District 7, which encompasses Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas and Wyoming.  Even more impressive is the fact that the at-large team is a catch-all situation for golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.  As a comparison, nationally the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association recognizes more than 250 skiers annually who have compiled a cumulative 3.5 grade point average.

Granstrom will graduate in December with a degree in Integrative Physiology and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.98 with just five credits of A- in her academic career at Colorado.  She was awarded the Tom Hansen Pac-12 Conference Medal, was three-times named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team, earned the top GPA for all female senior student-athletes, was named to CUGÇÖs 4.0 club multiple times and will graduate in just three-and-a-half years.

On the mountain, she was named second-team All-RMISA and in 14 races, she had eight top 10s, five top five, three podiums and one race victory, helping the Buffs to two NCAA Championships in her three years on the team.  She is ranked in the top 150 in the world in both Giant Slalom and Super G.  In 42 career races, she finished 35 of them with 34 top 20s, 26 top 10s, 17 top five, 10 podiums and one win.  She earned two first-team All-America and three All-RMISA honors.

Oedegaard has similar academic achievements, as he graduated from CU in three years and this past year completed a graduate degree in Business Analytics with a cumulative grade point average of 3.78.  He also won the Tom Hansen Pac-12 Medal and was the top male graduating student-athlete with his GPA.  He was four times named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team.

Making his mark as one of the top skiers in CU history on the trails, he finished his CU career as a seven-time All-American, including five first team honors, and his 19 race victories is the most by a menGÇÖs skier in program history and his 34 podium appearances are the most by any skier in CU history.  He was the RMISA Individual Champion five times and twice earned NCAA Individual Championships, also helping the Buffs to two NCAA Championships as a team.

He was twice named CU Athlete of the Year and was awarded with CUGÇÖs Career Athletic Achievement honor this year.  As a senior, he completed all 14 races with five wins and five more runner-up finishes and in all had 12 podiums appearances in 14 races and earned two more first-team All-America honors.  He was named first-team All-RMISA, was the RMISA MVP and RMISA Skier of the Year.  He was the top performing male Nordic skier at the NCAA Championships finishing third in both the classical and freestyle races, helping the Buffs to the National Championship.

The two also keep the Buffs streak alive of having a skier on the All-District Team.  From 2012-14, former Buff Andreas Haug earned mention on the District team.  Haug went on to earn three Academic All-America honors, earning third team as a sophomore, second-team as a junior and first-team as a senior last year.
