Sutherland Takes Fifth At World University Games

GWANGJU, South Korea - University of Colorado runner Sara Sutherland recorded a fifth place finish in the 5,000-meter run on Saturday at the World University Games.

Sutherland was the top American in the race, finishing in 16:06.94, a season-best. The time was just over three seconds off the winnerGÇÖs time, 16:03.29, which was run by the Czech RepublicGÇÖs Kristina Maki. It was a very close finish with the top seven runners finishing within four seconds of each other. The seventh place finisher, JapanGÇÖs Natsuki Omori, finished in 16:07.57.

CUGÇÖs Ana Holland continued action on Saturday as she helped the U.S. 4x100-meter relay to a first place finish in the semis (44.40). Kazakhstan had the second best time in the field at 44.58. The 4x100 finals are set for Sunday, which is the final day of competition for track and field at the World University Games.
