Holland, Sutherland Advance At World University Games

GWANGJU, South Korea - University of Colorado track and field athletes Ana Holland and Sara Sutherland each moved on to the next round of their respective events on Thursday at the World University Games.
Holland, who is competing in the 200-meter dash as well as relays, clocked a time of 24.41 seconds in her 200 preliminary heat to advance to the semifinals on Friday. Holland, whose season best is 23.54, placed third the fifth heat, which tied for the 17th fastest time of the day. Viktoriaya Zyabkina (Kazakhstan) won HollandGÇÖs section in 23.83, while Canada's Farah Jacques finished in 24.30. The top three in each heat automatically moved on to the semis, as well as the next six fastest times.
The semifinal round of three heats is scheduled for Friday, July 10 at 5 p.m. local time, with the final set for 6:10 p.m. the same day.
Sutherland, who dominated the 1,500-meter run this season, ran her first 5,000 of the season on Thursday night, clocking in 16:34.49, which was third fastest time in the second heat, 10th overall. New Zealand's Camille Buscomb won the section in 16:33.77 and Japan's Rina Koeda squeaked in just in front of Sutherland for second at 16:34.25. The top five times in each of the two sections earned a spot in the finals, as well as the next five fastest time.
The 5k final is slated for Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. local time.
The World University Games run through Sunday, July 12.
