Notre Dame claims the first ever win between the two programs on the hardwood.

Notre Dame led by as many as 18 points in the first half before leading by 15 at the break. The Fighting Irish were 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half, but missed all five attempts in the second. Colorado got the lead down to four, 81-77, with less than a minute left but the Irish clinched it at the line. Notre Dame scored its last 13 points via the free throw line, hitting its last field goal with 2:39 left in the game.

Colorado was 18-of-19 from the free throw line; that 94.7 percentage being the team’s single-game best since hitting all 26 in an 84-70 win over Georgia on Dec. 28, 2013. The Buffaloes are 46-of-54 over the last two games (.852)

The 50 points Colorado gave up to Notre Dame in the first 20 minutes was the most in any half since also giving up 50 at USC on Feb. 17, 2016 (second half). It was the most during the nonconference season since giving up 52 at Colorado State in the first half of an 88-77 Colorado win on Dec. 6, 2015.

Colorado had two 20-point scorers for the first time since George King (23) and Josh Fortune (21) against Stanford on Jan. 27, 2016.

Xavier Johnson (23 points, 7 rebounds) – Recorded his ninth career game with 20-plus points and the 23 are his most since scoring 24 at California on March 8, 2014. He also jumped from 31st to 29th in career scoring, now with 1,046, passing Wilky Gilmore (1,026, 1959-62) and Jim Creighton (1,032, 1969-72). Johnson also moved into 20th in career minutes played at 2,593.

Derrick White (20 points, 9 assists, 7-of-7 FT) – His nine assists were the most by a Buffalo since Askia Booker dished out 12 at UCLA on Feb. 13, 2014. He’s hit his last 10 free throws, over two games, since going an uncharacteristic 3-of-8 against Seattle U.

George King (17 points, 13 rebounds) – Career high 13 rebounds while also collecting his second career double-double. He is 5-of-8 from 3-point range over the last two games (.625) after starting out 2-of-8 (.250).
