FAQ's & Tailgating Policy Information

WHY ARE CARS NO LONGER ABLE TO PARK ON FRANKLIN FIELD?

Above all else, our mission – and the purpose of the dollars you invest in our programs each year – is to provide every opportunity for CU student-athletes to be successful.

The Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) and outdoor practice area on Franklin Field are transformational resources that will enhance our ability to compete for and win championships for decades to come. Beginning in August, our football program will use Franklin Field daily, and the field must be in immaculate condition to support their preparation.

We simply cannot risk injury to one of our student-athletes, or damage to the investment so many have generously supported, by parking cars on Franklin Field.

WHERE DO I PARK?

All Franklin Field Tailgate Zone parking is assigned in Lot 391, the Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) underground parking structure. Within Lot 391, the top/entry level is reserved for donors only, including all Franklin Field Tailgate Zone patrons. This level is labeled as P1, and will be reflected on your parking permit. Parking on Level P1 is first-come, first-served, beginning six (6) hours prior to kickoff, but no earlier than 8AM on game day (subject to change for non-Saturday home games).

WHO IS SEVENSOUTH TAILGATING?

SevenSouth Tailgating, LLC is the largest full-service tailgate provider in one of the most tradition rich tailgating locations in college football, The Grove at Ole Miss. Owned and operated by two Ole Miss alums, SevenSouth understands the importance of game day done right, and they are specialized to meet and exceed your exact tailgate needs.

SevenSouth’s mission is to take the work and stress out of tailgating to enrich the already wonderful game day experience, and CU Athletics is proud to partner with SevenSouth in establishing a new tailgating tradition at the Franklin Field Tailgate Zone.

SevenSouth intends to become part of the fabric of the Boulder community, and will employ current CU ROTC students in order to keep much of your financial investment right here on campus.

Beginning in July, SevenSouth will be in direct contact with you to begin coordinating every aspect of your tailgate experience. From storage and logistics to last minute game day needs, SevenSouth will be there to support you each step of the way.

WHEN CAN I ACCESS THE FRANKLIN FIELD TAILGATE ZONE?

Unless otherwise posted, all parking and tailgate areas will open six (6) hours prior to scheduled game time, but no earlier than 8AM (subject to change for non-Saturday home games). Depending on game time, Franklin Field will remain open for at least one (1) hour following the game.

Please note that RE-ENTRY WILL NOT BE PERMITTED AT FOLSOM FIELD during the 2023 Colorado Football season. Ticketed fans who choose to leave will not be granted access back into the stadium.

WHAT CAN I BRING?

Have a trusty grill that you have used for years? Bring it! Do you display a flag or banner so friends and guests can easily find you? Waive it with pride!

Virtually any personal item you have used for tailgating in the past, you can still use in the Franklin Field Tailgate Zone! Among the personal items that remain permissible on Franklin Field: blankets, banners, flags, games, grills (propane only), portable generators (60db or less), televisions, and portable satellites.

Just remember, the more you bring, the more you are responsible for, and the University of Colorado and SevenSouth Tailgating are not responsible for personal items left unattended. If you have personal equipment that you anticipate using for most or all home games, you are encouraged to make storage arrangements with SevenSouth prior to the season.

WHAT IS PROHIBITED?

Glass bottles and containers, charcoal grills, amplified sound, portable generators with a decibel rating higher than 60db, marketing or promotional collateral not approved by CU Athletics, commercial or political advertisements and handouts.

Extension cords are not permitted to run across streets or sidewalks or through open windows and doors of campus buildings. Unauthorized entry into any campus building or property for the purpose of plugging in extension cords will not be allowed, and unauthorized tampering with the University’s electrical distribution equipment, including circuit breaker panels, junction boxes, or disconnects is strictly prohibited.

WHAT CAN I STORE?

In general, items that are of a common “camping size or style” will likely be acceptable for storage, and every effort will be made to accommodate your storage needs.

SevenSouth will coordinate with you to determine what items can and cannot be stored. Due to space and safety/liability limitations, SevenSouth may be unable to store particular items, and additional charges may apply to store items that exceed a certain size or quantity.

SevenSouth operates with full authority to establish guidelines for storage of personal items or tailgate equipment that is not included in the base package.

WHAT ADDITIONAL ITEMS CAN I RENT OR PURCHASE?

Additional items available for rental or purchase include: tables, chairs, coolers, bags of ice, and grills.

HOW DO I GET MY STUFF TO MY TAILGATE?

The primary point of access to the Franklin Field Tailgate Zone will be via the stairwell* and service elevator located in the southwest corner of Level P1 in the IPF parking structure. As needed, representatives from SevenSouth will be on hand to assist you in transporting your items from Level P1 up to Franklin Field.

* - Please be aware that depending on arrival time, stairwell access may be limited or restricted without a valid game ticket. Have your game ticket(s) with you at all times!

WILL MY STUFF BE SECURE?

Ultimately, you are responsible for your personal belongings and any tailgate equipment that is not included in the base package (unless otherwise agreed upon with SevenSouth). The University of Colorado and SevenSouth Tailgating are not responsible for personal items left unattended.

It is recommended that you take additional steps (such as a cable lock, provided via SevenSouth upon request) to secure any tailgate equipment or personal items that you wish to leave at your tailgate during the game. As a further security measure, consider allowing a few extra minutes to return valuable items to your vehicle prior to entering the stadium.

ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON WHO CAN ACCESS THE FRANKLIN FIELD TAILGATE ZONE?

No – any and all Buff fans are welcome to join you on Franklin Field, just as they have always been! Regardless of where they park, or even whether they have tickets to the game, invite your friends and family to join you early and often.

Public access to the Franklin Field Tailgate Zone is located off of the Buff Walk, across from the Ticket Booth at Franklin Field’s southwest corner. Just be sure to let your guests know your tent number and location so they can easily find you!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS OR SNOWS?
