USC cuts Colorado’s lead in the series to 9-5. This is USC’s first win in Boulder in six tries. After Colorado won the first seven Pac-12 meetings between the two teams, the Trojans have won the last two.Colorado loses for the first time this year when leading at the half (6-1). This was the first time in the last six games where the Buffaloes led at the half (35-34).
Colorado had four players score in double-digits. The Buffaloes had won their first seven games of the season when at least four players had scored double-digits, but have lost the last two (5 in double digits vs. UCLA).
Colorado’s 11 3-pointers made was its second most of the season (13 vs. Sacramento State). Colorado was 7-of-11 from 3-point range in the first half, tying the most made in any half this season. The Buffaloes also had seven in the season opener against Sacramento State.
Colorado is 0-5 in league play for the first time since 1995-96, the last season of the Big Eight Conference. The five game skid is the longest of the Boyle era and longest since the Buffaloes lost their final 12 games of the 2008-09 season.
Colorado drops to 2-3 against ranked teams in 2016-17.
One three-pointer in the first half from USC is a season-low in a single half by a PAC-12 opponent against Colorado this season. They went onto only make three in the entire game.
USC’s leading scorer Jordan McLaughlin held to just three points in first half. He finished with only nine points after exploding for 25 points in the last meeting against Colorado.
Wesley Gordon (2 points, 8 rebounds, 0-of-1 FG) With today’s appearance, he is now a tie for #16 on Colorado’s all-time games played list with 117.
George King (16 points, 6-of-13 FG, 4-of-8 3FG) King made a season-high four 3-point field goals and his 16 points are his best since also scoring 16 vs. Xavier. He led Colorado in rebounding for the third straight game and eighth time this season. King made 4 of his first 5 3-pointers before missing his final three. He was 6-of-10 from 3-point range over this week.
Xavier Johnson (15 points, 6-of-10 FG, 7 rebounds) Johnson jumps from 21st to 19th on Colorado’s all-time scoring list (1,261). He is also tied for 21st with 113 career games played and passes Andre Roberson for 18th most minutes played in school history with 2,984. He hit two clutch 3-point field goals within the last two minutes of the game – one of which gave Colorado the lead with 47 seconds remaining. Johnson was 14-of-24 from the field on the week (.583) and 5-of-7 from 3-point range (.714).
Dominique Collier (11 points, 3 assists) scored in double-digits for the second time this season and his first since scoring 12 in the season opener. He is averaging 3.0 assists over the last four games.
