Colorado got off to a hot start in the first half, shooting 4-of-4 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the field.
Colorado is just the third opponent, out of 22, to score 70 points against Oregon this season.
Colorado improves to 9-0 when holding opponents under 70 points this season.
Colorado moves even to 3-3 against ranked opponents this season. The three wins are the most since the 2012-13 season when the Buffaloes were 4-3 against ranked teams. The win against No. 10 Oregon is the highest ranked opponent Colorado has defeated since its 75-72 win over No. 9/10 Arizona on Feb. 24, 2016 here in Boulder. The Buffaloes have now won four of their last nine against ranked teams.
Tad Boyle now has 15 wins over ranked opponents in his seventh year as Colorado’s head coach. His 15 wins account for 25 percent of the program’s wins over ranked teams (59).
The Buffaloes are now 10-6 in all-time meetings against Oregon and remain undefeated against the Ducks all-time in Boulder (7-0).
The Ducks entered tonight’s game leading the Pac-12 in blocked shots per game (7.6 BPG) but only tallied three tonight against Colorado. Five Oregon players average double-digits in scoring but only one of those, Dylan Ennis, reached double-figures tonight.
Oregon’s 16 turnovers are the most by a CU opponent in Pac-12 play and tied for the second most this year.
All but one player that appeared in the game for Colorado scored.
Xavier Johnson (10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 2-of-5 FG) Johnson moves to 15th on Colorado’s all-time scoring list (1,320) – passing David Harrison (1,317). His nine rebounds tonight makes him 17th in school history (649), passing Donnie Boyce (644).
George King (13 points, 4-of-10 FG, 2-of-5 3P, 8 rebounds) King has made at least two three-point field goals in each of the last seven games. He is 19-of-36 from deep over that span.
Wesley Gordon (8 points, 4-of-5 FG, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal) Gordon’s 112 starts is now a tie for 5th most games started in school history. He is now also tied with Dave Logan for 49th on Colorado’s all-time scoring list (817 points).
Derrick White (23 points, 3-of-4 3FG, 4 steals) recorded a personal best and team season-high four steals. He hit his first two 3-pointers and finished 3-of-4 from long range. He had entered the game having made just 3-of-20 over the previous four games.
