Colorado Flag: Jonathan Van Diest
Florida Flag: Johnny Huntley III (from Plantation, Fla., done to honor those suffering due to Hurricane Irma)

QUICKLY    Colorado is 3-0 for the 41st time in its 128-year history, but for the first time since 2008 and just the second time since opening 5-0 in 1998 (3-0 also in 2004; last time CU was 4-0 was in ’98) … CU now leads the series with UNC by a 10-2 count; this was just the fifth time in 12 games both teams scored, and the first that both did in double figures; the 62 points combined are the most … The game time of 3:22 despite halftime being reduced to 15 minutes … MacIntyre is now 13-5 in non-conference games (13-3 regular season) … CU lost the coin toss after winning 10 in a row, but has still won 15 of the last 17 dating back to last year’s opener … TB Chase Sanders was the only Buff to see his first career action today (on special teams); TE/DE George Frazier and OT Jeromy Irwin played for the first time after serving suspensions the first two games of the year (for violating team rules).

Colorado gained at least 100 yards in each quarter for the first time this season and for the first time since last year’s Washington State game (CU did it  three times in 2016).

The Buffaloes went 123:52 before allowing their first touchdown this season, the fourth-longest into a season before doing so in the post-World War II Era (and the longest since 1958—138:45).  CU has still allowed only 27 points in three games, its fewest since 1978 (21).

MAC & 3-0   In his 28 seasons as a coach, pro or college, this is the first time Mike MacIntyre is part of team that opened a season 3-0.  He has been a part of several teams that started out 2-0 (which he has done three times at CU).  As a player, as a freshman at Vanderbilt, the Commodores started 3-0 in 1984.

100/100   This marked the 41st time in school history the Buffaloes had a 100-yard rusher and 100-yard receiver in the same game (31-10 in such contests).  TB Phillip Lindsay (26-151) and WR Devin Ross (8-143) also did it against Washington State last year, and the duo was seven yards receiving short of becoming the first 150/150 in CU annals (previous closest was nine rushing yards – the 1994 Miracle in Michigan game, and another instance with nine receiving yards (2010 at Kansas).   Complete list of games on page 197 of CU media guide.

“BLACKOUT BOYZ”   CU’s receivers have nicknamed themselves the “Blackout Boyz,” mainly led by the four starters: seniors Bryce Bobo, Shay Fields and Devin Ross and junior Jay MacIntyre.  Those four today combined for 26 catches for 342 yards (13.2 per), with four touchdowns and all 16 first downs earned in the passing game.

This is the first time since Sept. 27, 2014 at California that four different Buffaloes have caught touchdown passes. In that game at Cal five different Buffs had TDs; Nelson Spruce had three TDs while Bryce Bobo, George Frazier, D.D. Goodson and Sean Irwin all caught one TD.

Bobo, Shays and Fields all caught a TD pass in the same game for the second time, also doing at Oregon last year; it’s the third time the caught at least five passes in the same contest.

TOTAL OFFENSE MARK  Though just with six career starts (and a 5-1 record), QB Steven Montez has already tied a significant CU record: he joins Koy Detmer, Mike Moschetti and Sefo Liufau as those at Colorado with two career 400-yard total offense games.  The list of all 13 games with 400-plus at Colorado:

In addition to his 425-yard total offense mark to tie the school record of two career 400-yard games, he set new career single-game highs in completions, attempts, passing yards and touchdowns.  He has a stellar rating at home, with his five-game Folsom Field stats listed below:

TB Phillip Lindsay (26-151, 1 TD rushing, 1-0 receiving)
He recorded the eighth 100-yard rushing game of his career, and second of the season. His sixth carry of the game – a five-yard touchdown run in the first quarter – was his 500th career rushing attempt and he became the 11th Buffalo to surpass 500 attempts. That TD run was also the 25th of his career, becoming the ninth Buff to have 25 or more rushing touchdowns in a career.

He has now scored at least one touchdown in 14 of his last 18 games, including the Alamo Bowl, going back to the 2015 finale at Utah, and with 162 career points, he is now tied for 12th all-time at Colorado—with his position coach, Darian Hagan.

He moved from 10th into eighth on CU’s all-time rushing list with 2,611 yards, passing Herchell Troutman (2,487, 1994-97) and James Mayberry (2,544, 2975-78).  He is also now second in all-purpose yards with 4,439, as he slipped by Eric Bieniemy (4,351, 1987-90).  And in yards from scrimmage, with 3,361 he jumped from a tie for seventh into sole possession of fifth.

OLB Jacob Callier
His fumble recovery on the errant UNC snap on the Bears’ second drive of the game marked the second consecutive year that a CU true freshman had a fumble recovery (Anthony Julmisse did so in the 2016 season opener against Colorado State).

CB Isaiah Oliver
He intercepted a pass for the second consecutive game; he now has three career picks, after entering the year with just one in his career.

ILB Rick Gamboa (6 tackles)
He went over 200 career tackles in the game; he is the 72nd Buff in history to reach the plateau (and is CU’s active leader in career stops).

WR Devin Ross (8-143, 1 TD receiving)
In recording the fourth 100-yard receiving game of his career, he upped his career numbers to 111 receptions for 1,344 yards; he is now tied for 11th in all-time receptions and 13th in receiving yards.

WR Shay Fields (8-69, 1 TD receiving)
He passed Paul Richardson into fourth place in all-time receptions at Colorado with 163 (Richardson had 156), and passed Phil Savoy into seventh place in receiving yards with 2,186.  He tied Michael Westbrook for sixth in TD receptions with 19.
