RALPHIE RAINED OUT Ralphie did not run to open the game like she normally would have, due to safety concerns with the wet turf and pools of water; the same decision was made early in the second quarter not to run at halftime. Ralphie’s non-runs:
Ralphie V Ralphie IV
2017 (Washington), neither half 2004 (Kansas), neither half
2016 (Idaho State), second half 2004 (Nebraska), first half
2015 (Oregon), neither half 2003 (Nebraska), neither half
2013 (Central Arkansas), first half 1999 (Nebraska), neither half
QUICKLY The last time it rained at Folsom: there was light to moderate rain throughout the Oregon game on Oct. 3, 2015 (previous to that: 2006 vs. Texas Tech) … First Career Starts: Juwann Winfree (WR); Jase Franke made his first career start at DE but his second overall … Washington won its seventh straight in the series to extend its lead to 11-5-1 (CU’s last win over the Huskies was in the ’96 Holiday Bowl) … The Buffs are now 1-1 when wearing silver helmets-black jerseys-silver pants … The game time of 2:57 was easily the quickest of the year, matched last year’s total of sub-3 hour games (1) and was the quickest since the 2013 CU-Washington game in Seattle that took 2:48 … CU lost the coin toss after for the second consecutive game, which had not occurred since 2015.
Colorado’s first kickoff return of the season (Nixon’s 27-yard effort) came 201 minutes into the year … CU went on to return five kickoffs for a 22.2 average … Myles Gaskin (27-202) is the first player to rush for over 200 yards against CU since Arizona’s Jared Baker did so on Oct. 17, 2015 (23-207).
QB Steven Montez (27-21-3, 171, 0 TD; 15-49 rushing)
He became the 21st player in CU history to eclipse 2,000 career passing yards (ending the night with 2,046); he did throw a career-high three interceptions. His true rushing was 11 carries for 70 yards when allowing for the lost sack yardage.
TB Phillip Lindsay (19-68, 1 TD rushing; 5-32 receiving)
He became CU’s all-time reception leader by a running back with 96 receptions (for 783 yards, which is second); he passed Rodney Stewart (2008-11) who had 93 for 969. He moved into seventh on CU’s rushing chart with 2,679 yards, as he skipped by Hugh Charles tonight (2,659). He is now alone in seventh in rushing touchdowns (26), and with 168 career points, he is now tied for 10th.
WR Shay Fields (5-36 receiving)
He moved into third place all-time at CU in receptions with 168, as he passed Michael Westbrook (167, 1991-94).
PK James Stefanou (1-1 PAT, 1-1 FG, 49 long)
He made his career-long 49 yard field goal in the third quarter, as he is now 7-of-8 on the season. It was the fifth-longest field goal by a freshman in school history, and his 7-of-8 start ties the fourth-best beginning in field goal makes by any kicker in CU annals.
