Colorado-Indiana State Notes
Colorado saw its six-game win streak come to an end and will face Hawai’i in a consolation game on Sunday at 5 p.m. MT on ESPNU. This will be Colorado’s fourth true road game during nonconference play which will match Stanford for the most among schools from the Power 5 and Big East Conferences. The Buffaloes were one of 15 schools from that grouping to have at least three true road nonconference games.
Colorado gave up eight 3-pointers in the first half, its most in any half this season. After allowing ISU to shoot 8 of 12 in the first half, the Buffaloes held the Sycamores to 1 of 4 in the second.
Indiana State turned 11 offensive rebounds into 17 second chance points. The Sycamores had 11 second chance points off four offensive rebounds in the first half
Colorado had a season-high 19 turnovers which led to 20 Indiana State points.
Colorado was outrebounded for just the second time this season (San Diego). The Buffaloes had averaged a plus-12.8 rebounding margin the previous six games.
The Buffaloes fell to 0-2 on the season when not having at least four players score in double figures. Colorado had just three against ISU (and two in the other loss at San Diego).
Colorado had a season-high nine blocked shots, its most in a game since recording 10 in a 57-55 loss at Utah on March 5, 2016.
Tyler Bey (16 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks) recorded his third straight double-double and fourth in the last five games. He made his only 3-point attempt. McKinley Wright IV (10 points, 5 assists) moved into 19th in career assists (234), passing Howard Frier who had 231 from 1994-98. Wright has scored in double figures in 36 of 42 career games and dished out at least five assists in 29 outings.
Shane Gatling (10 points, 3 blocks) career-high in blocks and is the only player other than Tyler Bey to have three or more in a game this year. Gatling had just two blocks in his first nine games. Scored in double figures for the sixth time and fifth time in the last six games. Had his fourth game with multiple 3-point field goals.
D’Shawn Schwartz (5 points, 6 rebounds) averaging 6.0 rebounds the last two games.
