Colorado-USC Notes
USC shot 54.7 percent from the field, the second highest figure Colorado has given up this season (.603 at Xavier) and most at home. It was the highest field goal percentage allowed by the Buffaloes at Coors since Utah shot 55.3 percent in an 86-81 Utes win on Feb. 23, 2017. USC’s 53.6 percentage in the first half was the most by a CU opponent since Oregon (.652) and the most at home since Denver shot 56.3 percent on Nov. 14.
Colorado had entered the game leading the Pac-12 in field goal defense during conference games (.417) and had given up less than 40 percent to its last three home opponents.
With loss, Buffs drop to 14-6 when shooting 40 percent or better.
USC narrows Colorado’s lead in the series to 9-7. The Trojans have won the last four, sweeping a home-and-home single-season Pac-12 series from the Buffs for the first time.
Colorado has lost its last three games despite outrebounding its opponents in each contest. The Buffaloes fall to 11-8 this year when outrebounding their opponent.
Colorado hit double-digits in 3-point field goals (10) for the seventh time this year.
Lucas Siewert (16 points, 8 rebounds, 2-2 3FG-FGA) recorded career-highs in rebounds and field goal attempts (11) while matching his personal best with six field goals. He scored in double figures for the eighth time in his career and fourth time in the last seven games. He led Colorado in scoring for the second time this year and third in his career.
McKinley Wright (12 points, 6 assists, 2-4 3FG) set the Colorado record for assists by a freshman with 148, passing Chauncey Billups who had 143 in 1995-96.  He’s the fifth freshman to record 400 points in a season, sitting right at that figure after 12 points tonight. It was his second game during conference play with multiple 3-pointers (2-of-2 at Arizona). It’s the 24th time he’s led the Buffaloes in assists and the 18th game with at least five.
