Colorado-Utah Notes

Colorado improved to 27-21 all-time against Utah and snapped a seven-game Utes winning streak in the series.

The Buffs improved to 11-0 when leading at the half

Utah’s 55 points were a season low and its 35.1 percentage from the field was its second-lowest mark of the season (35.0 percent vs. UNLV).  The percentage was the lowest by a Colorado opponent during the Pac-12 season and lowest overall since New Mexico shot 29.6 percent on Dec. 6. The 55 points were the second fewest the Buffaloes have given up this season (51 vs. Northern Colorado).

Utah’s 55 points were the fewest in this series since the Buffaloes defeated the Utes 60-50 on Feb. 21, 2013 in Boulder.

Colorado held Utah to 20 points in the first half, the lowest for a Buffs opponent in any half this year. It was the fewest first half points allowed since Sacramento State had 19 in November 2016. Utah missed its last five field goals of the first half and nine of 10 over the final 7:35 of the first. Colorado had a 19-8 run over the last 11:14 of the first half and 10-0 run over the final 5:16 to build its 27-20 halftime advantage.

Colorado hit at least 10 3-pointers for the sixth time this season.

George King (12 points, 10 rebounds) It was his eighth double-digit rebounding performance of the season and fifth in the last eight games (72 rebounds during that span). This was his sixth double-double of season and 13th of his career. He became the 22nd Buff to reach 1,200 career points (1,206). King also moved into 18th in career starts (81) and 21st in minutes played (2,604).

Dominique Collier (8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists & 3 steals) matched season highs with five rebounds and three steals. Had only three steals the previous 11 games. He was 2 of 3 from 3-point range improving his conference 3-point percentage to .531 (17 of 32). He moved into 24th in career assists (209).

Lucas Siewert (13 points, 3-7 3FG, 4-4 FT) scored in double-figures for the fourth time this season and sixth in his career. It marks his first back-to-back double-figure scoring performances as he had 10 points at Arizona State. His three 3-point field goals was a season high, one off his career mark. His seven attempts from deep was a career-high. Siewert is shooting  86 percent from the free throw line (12-14) during the conference season as he matched season highs in free throws made and attempted.

McKinley Wright IV (21 points, 4 assists, 8-12 FG) recorded his fifth 20-point game of the season and first during Pac-12 play. Rebounded by hitting 8 of 12 from the field after being held to a season-low two points on 1 of 10 shooting at Arizona State. His four assists are his fewest in the last six games, but moved his season total to 123 third best by a freshman in team history and 21st by any player.
