Colorado-Oregon Quotes
Colorado Head Coach Ann Elliott
On The Win:
“It was exciting. It was a bit of a slow start, but we came out strong in the second half. We knew it was going to be a tough battle, and I think we did a good job of making adjustments from last week. We are excited to be playing in the championship on Sunday.”
“In the beginning we missed a few little plays, but outside of that, we were going hard and had some good opportunities, we just weren’t finishing. Defensively we were sticking to the game plan and making plays. The game plan was to finish every play whether it was getting a ground ball in transition or shooting. I thought we did a lot better of a job.”
On What They Did To Limit Oregon’s Offense:
“It was the third time we played them and we watched them yesterday, so we knew what they were good at. They are great feeders and they can score quickly if you give them the opportunities. Our focus was to make it difficult for them. I thought we did a much better job of making them have to make plays under pressure.”
On The Balanced Team Scoring:
“Our team is about playing seven people on offense and everyone being a threat and doing their role. We worked all week on people stepping up and making plays. Every game is a little bit different with the opportunities that we get, but I thought today, with the way that they were playing defense, allowed for a lot of different people to have opportunities, and it was great to see them finish those and to step to take advantage of them.”
On Using Last Year’s Experiences To Get Ready for Sunday:
“We have a quick turnaround and have a chance to watch USC and Stanford right now. I think tomorrow we will get a little more mentally prepared, and we have been working on that all week. We have had these Friday and Sunday games all year long in our conference. We go out hard on Friday and then regroup and get prepared for the quick turnaround on Sunday. At the end of the day, it is about going out and playing one play at a time. Our mentality coming into today was that this was our last game. We only have one thing guaranteed now and that is the game on Sunday. We are going to get ourselves rested up and taken care of, and then go out there and play one play at a time for 60 minutes to see what we can do against either a great team in Stanford or a great team in USC.”
On Where The Team Is At:
“I am never happy. I am convinced that we can always do better. However, at the same time, I think we are doing a lot of good things and today was an example of that. Everybody was doing their role and stepping up and doing the things that go unnoticed. That is a really big part of us being at our best. Everyone needs to have the confidence to make plays. We are excited about where we are at, but we will get better tomorrow, and will get better on Sunday.”

On Defending Oregon“Our defense definitely stepped up. We’ve been practicing on cutting and scouting their feeders. They’re really good at passing the ball through the middle and finishing. We had been focusing on that all week.”
On The Crowd
“It’s pretty cool, we have a huge fan base. A lot of us are East-Coast kids and our parents show up. A lot of our alumni came back which is pretty awesome. I think that gets us excited, having that whole fan group off to the side. It feels really cool to have them all here.”
On Previous Tournament Experience
“Having experience is always a positive. We definitely went further this year. We definitely want to win the championship on Sunday. Obviously, having experience is important but we’ve just got to focus on Sunday.”
Darby Kiernan, Sr., Att.
On Balance Of Scoring“It’s always a team effort out there. It’s important that people are scoring and doing a good job. In the second half, we were just taking better shots and we came out with the win.”
On The Crowd
“You see a bunch of kids here, which is awesome. The game has exposure and having alumni here is incredible. It makes a huge difference. ”
Oregon Head Coach Katrina Dowd
On The Difference Between Today’s Loss and Yesterday’s Win
“Their goalkeeper shut the door on us. They were playing really good defense, and it started on our rides, they were shortening our possessions. They are really tough and battle tested.”
On The Season As A Whole
“We played Syracuse and Towson, which were tough teams. Our record could have been different if we scheduled different, but it gave us a chance to win against conference opponents. We had a really good offensive year, and brought in some big-time transfers. It was a stepping stone to take it to the next level.”
