Colorado-Stanford Quotes
Colorado Head Coach Ann Elliott
On Stanford’s Defense
“No, I think Stanford came out, they played hard, they compete all over the field. We know how good they are. They’re a really good team who’s playing really well and can beat you in many different ways. They stepped up and we didn’t.”
On Stanford’s Allie DaCar today
“Yeah, I think she had an awesome day. Throughout the whole game I thought she played very well. We did a poor job of executing. Just like we did last year in the NCAA Tournament. You can’t take 35 shots and only score six shots and expect to win the game. That’s not the way things work. So I thought she did a great job and I thought we didn’t. We didn’t do a great job working for opportunities and we didn’t do a great job of finishing the ones we had.”
On What Stanford Did Well
“No, I mean they’re a good team. They’re an aggressive team. They have a lot of players that can beat you. They’re good defensively. They’re good offensively. I don’t think anything was different outside of we got outplayed. They played hard, they played like they were playing for a championship and we played like something was supposed to be given to us and that’s not the way it works.”
On What Was Said After The Game
“I think I said we’re disappointed. I’m disappointed in the effort. I thought after last season we would come out and understand what it takes to fight for a championship when you’re tired and when things don’t go your way and we didn’t. We got frustrated, we did dumb things and we weren’t tough enough to battle back against a team that’s very tough and battles. So if we’re fortunate enough next Sunday for someone to give us an opportunity to continue to play we have to get better and we have to take advantage of that but it’s not going to be easy.”
On The Chances Of An NCAA Tournament Bid
“You know I think the only thing guaranteed is if we had won today. I think hopefully we’ve done a good enough job over the season of building a great resume to be able to get an at-large bid but there is a lot of lacrosse to be played in the next week in different conferences and we’ll see where we end up.”
On Mindset At The Half
“We’ve rallied before but we’ve played a lot better before in the first halves in those opportunities and in this one we weren’t. We weren’t doing the little things. We were getting beat to ground balls. All the little plays they were making and we weren’t. We tried to refocus during halftime and come out. Outside of that I thought we could be in control. We weren’t able to make the little plays in the first couple sets and they were and scored some goals. Our backs really went against the wall but credit to them. They deserve to win today. They’re a great team and I think they will be very successful in the NCAA Tournament.”
On Expectations Of Today
“No, I mean I believe in this team and they hopefully believe in themselves and what we’re capable of. We came out here with the intention to attack and to win and it didn’t happen. We have to figure out why we didn’t have that mentality. That will be our project this week.
On The Upcoming Week
“Yeah, we’re going to practice assuming we can extend our season. We’re going to practice and see what we can do. We’re going to get to work. We’re going to work hard and understand that to be successful at the end of the season no one is going to give you anything and no one cares if you’re tired. No one cares if you’re sore. No one cares if you fell down. You have to get back up and we have to be tougher and we’ll work on that this week.”

Colorado Players
Sarah Brown, Sr., D
On How The Team Felt Going Into The Second Half“I think that we just didn’t come out hard and strong, by the time we finally did decide to do that it was too late. At halftime we were still not putting up a fight and they came out and did what they needed to do.”
On Defensive Struggles
“I mean we obviously know how to play this team; we have beaten them twice. I think that we just weren’t as aggressive as we should have been. We just didn’t execute and play as a team like we normally do.”
On Possibly Underestimating Stanford
“Yeah maybe, I don’t know something just wasn’t clicking. We were doing all the right plays on offense, we just couldn’t execute. We were there on the slides but just weren’t playing body defense. We were just making little mistakes that really add up.”
On What Needs To Be Done Next Week
“We just need to try and get better every day and practice.”
Darby Kiernan, Sr., Att.
On Stanford’s Defense“They were doing nothing different, I mean we were getting the looks but not finishing our shots.”
On Offensive Struggles
“We just had to focus on our shooting, I mean that is what it came down to and dodging hard and taking advantage of our opportunities.”
On Possibly Underestimating Stanford
“I mean we had a huge opportunity today, Stanford fought really hard. I don’t know, it is just a really tough loss, hopefully we have an opportunity to get into the NCAA Tournament to get another opportunity to prove that we can do better than that.”
On Motivation Going Into The Week
“Of course, we have to get better and we have to work hard during practice this week, for sure focus on shooting.”
On Second Half
“Despite the score you always have to keep fighting, you always have to stay in the game. You can’t give up, I think that we just had to keep our head in the game and just keep fighting for it."
Stanford Head Coach Amy Bokker
On The Pac-12 Tournament Championship
"It's awesome. I thought our team just played so empowered and with so much energy. They really connected out on the field and they came ready to play. I am just really proud of our team all together."
After Losing Twice To CU Then Having A Running Clock In Championship Game
"I mean they were ready. They were inspired. This was a goal of ours all season. I think they were really focused and our defense was amazing. They just play so disciplined. I can’t say enough about their play and Allie (DaCar) coming up huge with all those saves. It really all just came together."
On Goalkeeper Allie DaCar
"I think the ball was just looking like a beach ball today as it was coming. You have those days and I am glad it was today for her. She has worked very hard throughout the whole season. I am glad her biggest game came in her biggest moment."
