Colorado-California Notes

Colorado takes a 16-15 lead in the all-time series with California and has won the last three. It was just the second win in 14 tries in Berkeley and first as a member of the Pac-12 (1-5).
 
The Buffaloes pick up their third road win of the season and first in the Pac-12 since last year’s win at UCLA, ironically by the same 68-59 score. Colorado improves to 3-5 on the road in 2018-19. CU was 1-10 in 2017-18.
 
Colorado was held without a steal in a game for the first time since Jan. 24, 1981 at Kansas, the season before current head coach joined the Jayhawks as a student-athlete out of high school.
 
Colorado’s 18 assists tied for the team’s second-most this season, which also came on the road at Air Force. The Buffaloes had assists on their first 11 baskets and 12 in the first half. CU came into the game averaging 12.0 assists over its first five Pac-12 games.
 
Colorado held an 11-point lead at halftime (34-23) its largest on the road since leading Washington in Seattle by 15 (39-24) on Jan. 18, 2017 (Washington won that game in overtime, 85-83.
 
Tyler Bey (17 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists) recorded his eighth career double-double and sixth this season. His 14 rebounds were his most in a Pac-12 game and tied for the second most of his career. He has logged double-figures in rebounds in 10 games this season and nine of the last 12. Bey tied a season-high with two assists in the first half alone (Charlotte). It was his fifth game of the season with at least three blocked shots. After making just 1 of 7 last weekend against Utah, he rebounded by hitting six of eight from the field.
 
Shane Gatling (13 points, 6 rebounds) logged a CU-best six rebounds. He recorded double-digits in scoring for the second straight game and third in the last four. He is averaging three 3-point field goals made per game over the last four contests.
 
Lucas Siewert (18 points, 6-11 FG)  has made 11 of his last 20 field goal attempts (.550). Led Colorado in scoring for the fourth time this season and seventh time in his career.
 
Daylen Kountz (5 points, 4 assists) tied his previous career best with four assists in the first half alone (Drake)
